1. | William Allan "Willie" Scott was born in 1881; died on 19 Sep 1970 in Perth, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Pakenham Union Cemetery, Pakenham, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Other Events and Attributes:
Notes: On his marriage license, William Allan Scott's occupation is given as farmer in Pakenham Tp. He married teacher Laura Essie Wilson of Fitzroy Tp. 26 Aug. 1920. When his sons enlisted in the RCAF, he was a mechanic with a garage in Pakenham, Ontario. Both his sons were killed in action: Donald Stewart Scott died at sea after the Canso aircraft he was flying in over northern seas near the Faroe Islands was shot down by a U-boat and the 8-man crew spent over 20 hours in one 4-man inflatable raft before being rescued. Donald died of cold and exhaustion and his body was consigned to the sea by the surviving members. His name is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, England. Younger son Kenneth was a Leading Aircraftsman on a Dakota transport dropping supplies to the British Army in Burma. The aircraft was hit by enemy fire and before it crashed, at about a height of 100 ft., Kenneth was seen to jump and perished in the jungle. His final burial place is in Taukkyan War Cemetery, Myanmar (Burma). William married Laurie Essie Wilson in 1920. Laurie was born in 1895; died on 18 Jul 1968 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Pakenham Union Cemetery, Pakenham, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
