    In hospital, Almonte, Ontario on Wednesday, September 30, 1987, Alton Wilbert Matthews (Of Fairview Manor), in his 100th year, beloved husband of the late Eva Anna Robertson. Dear father of Rev Alan R. Matthews, Hamilton, Ontario; Ruth (Mrs Stuart McArton) Stirling, Ontario and Kathleen (Mrs Earl Lowe) King City, Ontario. Loving grandfather and great grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Cremation, Ottawa, Ontario. A Memorial Service was held at the Almonte Baptist Church, Reserve Street on Saturday, October 3, 1987 at 2 pm with Rev Blake Eady officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

    Passed away peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital on Sunday March 4th, 2012. Ruth McArton of Stirling, in her 92nd year. Daughter of the late Alton & Eda Matthews. Beloved wife of Stuart McArton. Loving mother of Marj (Alex) Fleming of Cornwall, Bob (Susan) McArton of Alberta and William (Elizabeth) McArton of Parry Sound. Predeceased by daughter Joan Sager and brother Allan Matthews. Survived by son in law David Sager and sister in law Jean Matthews. Ever remembered by her 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren... Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church, Stirling on Thursday March 29th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

    Husband of Kay Lowe' Predeceased by Kay his loving wife for 68 years and his loved daughter Janet Hawkins; Earl was the 4th of nine children born to John (Jack) and Annie Lowe of Ramsay Township in Lanark County northwest of Ottawa. He is predeceased by his siblings Hilda, Elva, Jean, Roy, Gladys, Doris and Elsie.
    Earl was a WW II veteran, serving in the RCAF as a radar technician for 4 years. While Earl's formal education was minimal his drive for learning, an inquisitive nature and a knack for fixing things helped him build a successful working career as a leading salesperson and manager for RCA Victor Canada.
    Earl married the love of his life, Kay, in 1951. They moved to Toronto and a few years later Earl built the family home in the small hamlet of Laskay in King Township.
    Earl and Kay were stalwart community supporters while living in the King area and when they moved to Alliston, Earl enjoyed and supported the Knox Church community, the Alliston Legion and the Borden Golf club.

    Mary married John Earl Lowe on 21 Jul 1951. John (son of John H. Lowe and Joanna Margaret McArton) was born on 23 May 1921; died on 28 Dec 2020 in Alliston, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in 2020 in King City Cemetery, King City, York Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada.
