    ?b?Mary Laura Baker?/b? was born March 29, 1911, in Smith Falls, Ontario, daughter of Sidney and Catherine Hanna Leeson, she graduated from Smith Falls schools and was a 1932 graduate of the St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing. She married Albert D. Baker on April 11, 1931, in the DeKalb Junction Methodist parsonage with the Rev. George Dando officiating. The couple lived in Ogdensburg all of their married life. Mr. Baker died July 15, 1996.

    Mrs. Baker was a registered nurse at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital and also did private duty nursing. She worked at the Pythian Home until it closed and then became the nurse administrator at United Helpers Nursing Home, State Street, retiring in the late 1960s.

    Mrs. Baker was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Duplicate Bridge Club and Ogdensburg Women's Golf Association. She was also a life member of the Ogdensburg Garden Club and enjoyed bowling.

    Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Jarrett, Ogdensburg; a son, James A. Baker , Houston, Texas; a sister, Myrtle Cottage, St. Catharines, Ontario; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Two sisters, Georgina Gallant and Sarah Bell, and two brothers, Alfred Leeson and John McCormick, died before her.

    Mary married Albert Dannie Baker on 11 Apr 1931 in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. Albert was born in 1910; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
