    One of the most beloved and respected citizens of the Clayton community passed away very suddenly in the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, Monday, Sept. 11th in the person of Mrs. Robert D. Munro in her 74th year. Born in Lanark Township, Feb. 122nd, 1888 she was (Margaret Yuill) the daughter of the late Wm. Yuill and his wife Robena Somerville. In 1912 she married Robert D. Munro and settled on a farm in Lanark Township near Clayton where they lived for over 40 years. Four years ago they moved to Clayton Village where she spent her remaining years. Mrs. Munro was of a cheerful and loving disposition, a real true friend and neighbour. Her chief interests during her life were her home, her family and flowers. Left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother are her husband; one son and two daughters: Arthur of Clayton; Addie (Mrs. Matt E. Somerville) Middleville and Margaret (Mrs. George Affleck) Almonte. There a five grandchildren. Surviving in her family are one sister and 4 brothers: Jean (Mrs. Chas. Munro); Robert and Wm. Yuill, Clayton; Arthur and James Yuill, Almonte. Deceased members are Agnes (Mrs. Arch. Robertson); Ruby (Mrs. Lloyd Pretty) and Alex Yuill. The funeral service which was largely attended by relatives and friends was held Thursday, Sept. 14th from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. Rev. Jas. Payton officiated. Interment was in Clayton United Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernie Moulton, Wilf Halpenny, Alex Rintoul, Wm. Bolger, Wm. Bellamy and Earl Robertson. Many floral tributes testified to, the love and esteem felt for the deceased.

    MR. ARTHUR YUILL

    Mr. Arthur Yuill passed away suddenly on May 6 as a result of a heart attack at his home on the 2nd line of Ramsay Township in his 67th year. Born in Lanark Township on Jan. 7, 1897 he was a son of the late William Yuill and his wife Robena Somerville. He farmed all his life, first in Darling Township and for the past 16 years in Ramsay Township. On Nov. 18, 1931 he married Miss Cora Munro who survives with five daughters; Dorothy, Mrs. Randolph Legree; Blanch, Mrs. Lawrence Desjardin; Alma, Mrs. Stuart Malloch; Eileen, Mrs. Dan Boothby and Della; three sons, William, Robert and James. He also leaves one sister, Jean, Mrs. Chas. Munro. The funeral was held on Wed., May 8 from the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, Carleton Place to Guthrie United Church, Clayton, where the service was held at 2.30 p.m. Interment was in Clayton United Cemetery. Rev. Robert Clarke of Middleville and Clayton officiated. The pallbearers were: Bert Miller, Edgar Finlayson, Fred Desjardin, Ernie Wall, Wesley Paul and Harry Wright. The flower bearers were: Ronnie Yuill, Russell Watt, Eldon Munro, Allan Pretty, Jim Fulton and Arthur Munro.

    Arthur married Cora Munro on 18 Nov 1931 in Middleville, Lanark Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Cora (daughter of Robert A.     Peacefully at the Perth Hospital, with her family by her side, on Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the age of 78. Predeceased by her husband Lawrence. Loving mother of Marie and Paul (Sarah). Proud grandmother of Josie. Survived by her sisters Dorothy (Randolph Legree-deceased) and Eileen (Dan Boothby). Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Cora and her special uncle Jim. Predeceased by her sisters Alma (Stewart Malloch) and Delia (Jim Graham-surviving). Blanche will be missed by all her nieces and nephews, friends, and family. Friends may visit the family at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Ave., Carleton Place, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.     The death of Ila Mae Elizabeth Munro, widow of the late George Jones, occurred at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa, on Saturday, October 2nd, following a severe stroke. She was 65. Mrs Jones was born at Clayton on February 2nd, 1911, a daughter of the late David Munro and his wife, Edith E. Thompson. She received her education at Clayton schools and Almonte High School. She was a member of Almonte Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the choir. Her chief hobby was music and at one time she played the organ at the Baptist Church. On December 8th, 1943, she was married at Almonte United Church to the late George W. Jones. She is survived by a step-son, Kenneth Jones, O Kemos, Michigan, and a step-daughters, Gladys (Mrs Edgar Wilson), Ottawa; Phyllis (Mrs Ted Boal), Lively, Ontario and Vivian (Mrs Al Harrington) of Richmond. Also surviving are a brother, Raymond Munro, Toronto, and two sisters, Kathleen (Mrs Gordon Thom), Almonte, and Lottie (Mrs Wilbert Belford), Pakenham. The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte, on Monday, October 4, at 2 p.m. with Rev Paul Rumball officiating, assisted by Rev Smith, a former pastor of the Baptist Church. Burial was made at Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Ila married George Whitehorn Jones in 1943. George was born in 1889 in Woolston, Southampton Unitary Authority, Hampshire, England; died on 25 Apr 1962 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
