    Mr John Kirk?/b?
    Mr John Kirk passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 4 at the home of his son Glenson at Kingston. Mr Kirk had only arrived in Kingston two days previously after spending two weeks in Oshawa with his second son Kenneth and family. He appeared to be in good health up to the time of his fatal seizure. Born in Lanark Village, 69 years ago, he was the son of the late Mr and Mrs Wm Kirk. He came to Almonte at an early age with his family and with the exception of a short time spent in Cobourg, lived here the remainder of his life. He was a weaver by trade and was employed in the Rosamond Woollen Mill for many years. In 1907 he married Miss Jane Hurdis of Carleton Place who predeceased him in 1942. To them were born three sons, Glenson of Kingston, Kenneth of Oshawa and Ross of Ottawa who survive with one grandson and one granddaughter. Ten years ago Mr Kirk married Miss Mary Drynan of Almonte who also survives. The late Mr Kirk was a member of the Almonte United Church and a member of the Oddfellows. The funeral service was held on Wednesday afternoon July 7 at the Comba Funeral Home and was largely attended. Re J. Ray Anderson, minister of Almonte United Church conducted the service and also officiated at the Auld Kirk Cemetery where interment was made. The pallbearers were: Archie Julian, Jas Southwell, Wilfred Crawshaw, Alex McDonald, Thos Walker and Jos Brooks. Among the beautiful tributes were flowers from the Plant Protection, G.M.C., Oshawa; Mississippi Lodge No 147, Almonte; Circle No 2, Almonte United Church; T.C. Holmes and staff, Kingston; Almonte Branch Canadian Legion; Hunting Club, Almonte; Staff of Bell Telephone Service, Ottawa.

    John married Jane Hurdis in 1907. Jane was born in 1885 in Carleton Place, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 17 Sep 1942 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 19 Sep 1942 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wayne at home in Kingston on Sunday June 20, 2004, in his 70th year. Only child of the late Glenson and Reta Kirk. Cherished husband and best friend of Diane. Dearest dad to Beth Dobson (Gary), Janice Kirk, and David (Jennifer). Devoted Grandy to Michael, Claire, Andrew, Diane, Martha, Jemmett, Maryn and Maggie. Lovingly remembered by his in-laws Norma Mulder, Carole and Tony D'Agnolo and Lynn Overland. Also survived by a niece Jane Eyford (David) and nephews Paul D'Agnolo (Jennifer), Steven and Graham Overland. The family will receive friends at the Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home, 309 Johnson Street, (at Barrie Street) Kingston, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 10 Union Street West, Kingston, on Friday, June 25th at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte at a later date.
