WICHITA ? Norma Jean Kidd, 79, Wichita, formerly of Clay Center, died Monday May 3, 2004. Mrs. Kidd was born Norma Jean Rauch on Sept. 10, 1924, in Lamar. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lyle, died in 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Doug and Roger, both of Wichita; a daughter, Cindy Soehner of Idalia, Colo.; a brother, John Ranch of Miltonvale; a sister, Jeannette Traver of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony, Catholic Church, Miltonvale. Burial will be in Miltonvale Cemetery. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Phelps Funeral Home, Miltonvale. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice of Wichita.

Norma married Elsworth Lyle Kidd on 6 Jul 1944 in Bly, Klamath County, Oregon, United States. Elsworth (son of William John Kidd and Goldie Elizabeth Beacom) was born on 18 Jun 1920 in McMinnville, Yamhill County, Oregon, United States; died on 2 Apr 2003 in Newton, Harvey County, Kansas, United States; was cremated in Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, Cloud County, Kansas, United States. Born and raised in Kansas, he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from Kansas State University, where he met his wife of 45 years, Diana. He was retired from SC Johnson & Sons but lived for his family ? his wife, children, grandchildren, and more. Though often described as kind, patient, generous, ornery and funny, he was perhaps best known for his uncomplaining and upbeat spirit. He was an avid sports fan from professional sports to his granddaughters' soccer games. He was most at home when he was spending time with his family at their Eureka Lake cabin, where he taught innumerable children and adults how to waterski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Lyle Kidd. He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughter, Laura (David) Mayans; son, Brett (Melody) Kidd; brother, Roger (Paula) Kidd; sister, Cindy (Gary) Soehner; granddaughters, Gabriella Mayans, Chloey and Faye Kidd; numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil will be at 4:00 P.M. with visitation from 4:30?6:00 P.M. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial immediately following at Ascension Cemetery.
