    Norman T. Sadler
Norman T. Sadler died peacefully at his Almonte residence with his wife Jean by his side May 28. He was born in Pakenham Township on Oct 15, 1918, the son of Thomas H. Sadler and Anne M. Keating. He attended school in Pakenham Township. He cut ice for Hollie Lowry then started working in the carpentry business with his eldest brother Harry. Soon afterwards he started out on his own in the carpentry business building barns, adding additions, and building new homes. Many were employed by Norman and worked with him. He was the contractor for the Stewart House in Pakenham and the Ann Street Apartments in Almonte. He built many homes throughout the town and surrounding areas. Norman first ran his business out of his home on the island, then on St George Street, and finally to the former Thurston Garage on Highway 29, now Highway 15. Norman was known by many in the store as a friendly man who always had a story or joke to tell and was always very willing to provide assistance with any project that someone was about to begin. He was a wealth of information and was always willing to share his ideas and knowledge with those who would ask. He remained active in the store until the time of his death. The store is now known as Sadler Building Supply, which is owned and operated by his son Bob. Norman taught Sunday School, was an elder, and was in the session at the Almonte United Church for many years. When not at the store, he enjoyed travelling, reading the scriptures, and spending time with his wife and family. He will be sadly missed by many whose lives he had touched in so many ways. Norman leaves his wife Jean Edna Giles of more than 49 years of marriage. He was the dear father of Robert (Eileen) and Joy (Fred Baetz) of Whitby, Ont. He was also the much-loved Grandpa of Sharon and Robbie, Poppa to Nicholas Baetz, and brother of Flora Sadler, of Almonte, and Agnes Liptak, of Greenwich, Conn. He was predeceased by his four brothers ? Harold, Gordon, Jim and Nelson. Relatives, friends and business associates called at the Kerry Funeral Home in wake May 29 and 30. The funeral was May 31. Interment was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

Norman married Jean Edna Giles in 1946. Jean (daughter of Robert William Giles and Jean Edith "Jeannie" McArthur) was born in 1922; died on 7 Mar 2016 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 11 Mar 2016 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
