Mrs. Adeline Kidd Dies at 99
An early Oak Park settler who would have been 100 years old next April 15 died in a Chicago convalescent home September 15. Mrs. Adeline Mayo Kidd, who came to the village at the age of seven when her father, George Mayo, built the first brick house in Oak Park on Elizabeth court, spent more than 70 of her 99 years in the town where she was reared.
Mrs. Kidd was a member of the graduating class of Oak Park's first public school, on the site of the present Lowell school, Lake and Forest. her mother was a member of Grace church mission, a forerunner of Grace Episcopal church.
Survivors include a son, John K. Russell III of Pleasant street, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary S. Rider of Marshall, Mo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kidd were held Friday, September 18, at 1 p.m. at Drechsler's chapel with Dr. Clyde Wilson, rector of Grace Episcopal church officiating.
Burial was in Forest Home cemetery.
