A resident of North Vancouver for 32 years, James Edgar Duncan died in Lion's Gate Hospital June 10 in his 81st. year.
Mr. Duncan was with the Greater Vancouver Water District from 1945, when he came to North Vancouver, until his retirement in 1962. He was an active worker in North Lonsdale United Church and in the Sunday School for many years.
He was a veteran of the First World War, having enlisted with the 202nd. Battalion of Edmonton and later serving with the 50th. Battalion.
UM Grad
After the war he resumed his studies in electrical engineering at the University of Alberta and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1923. Following his graduation he became interested in geophysics and was one of the early geophysical prospectors, first in the Gulf states and later in Alberta and northern Ontario.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Gilbert of Winnipeg, two daughters, Mrs. A. B. (Kay) Furniss of North Vancouver and Mrs. R. G. (Margaret) von Tigerstrom of Edmonton, a brother, Brock Duncan of Medicine Hat, Alta., five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
