He is listed as a deaf mute, laborer. He took over the family farm when his parents passed away.

1861 Agricultural census shows Thomas Leeson farming Lot 13, Conc. 9, 100 acres, Montague, Township, ON,

Thomas gave his exact date of birth in the Canada 1901 Census as March 14, 1829. However, in the census taken August 14, 1861 he claimed his age at next birthday to be 28. (That was the convention in the 1851 and 1861 census. This would suggest his DOB to be 1833. In the 1871 Census he claimed to be 33-DOB 1837-38. He and his brother appear in the 1851 Census (taken Jan. 12, 1852) as Gleasons living with their widowed mother. William is listed as the older son. The family was originally spell Gleeson but was often spell as Gleason. See Head of Household for Montague and 1851 Canada Census. It seems the family changed the name to Leeson after John's death.

Thomas is buried in the Franktown Public Cemetery No. 256 with his parents, wife Maria Kidd, and possibly Thomas and Maria's son William, and his brother
William.

He had left the station with a gang of men ahead of a freight train. The freight train hove in sight behind them at a narrow pass and they were obliged to set their hand car up on its side against a bank and hold it there for the train to pass. Mr. Leeson stepped across the strack to pick up something and then stepped back to the side where his men were. No on knows how the accident took place, but it is supposed some gravel must have given way under his feet and caused him to sway towards the track, when the engine struck him on the side, throwing him a great distance, breaking several ribs and inflicting other sever injuries. The train was reversed at once and the injured man taken to Spokane. No less than seven doctors were called, but their services were of no avail to save his life.

Leeson, who left last Sunday week for Spokane Falls, on hearing that his brother Andrew had met with a railway accident there, did not arrive in time his brother having died the day after the accident. The remains will be interred in Calgary, Mr. Leeson having left Spokane with the body yesterday morning. The sympathy of the community will be extended to the mourning relatives.

The railway company with whom he was very popular, wired his brother, Mr. George K. Leeson, at Calgary. When death took place a solid steel coffin with plate glass front was procured, to await the arrival of his brother from here. Mr. Geo. K. Leeson returned to Calgary with the remains yesterday morning. At 2 p.m. Sunday the funeral proceeded to the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer where the beautiful service was taken by his Lordship Bishop Pinkham. The chief mourners were his brothers George K. and William Leeson and his cousin John K. Shirley. The employees of the Northern Pacific Railway furnished a splendid wreath and they also raised the sum of $1,000. to erect a monument to the memory of their lamented friend Andrew Leeson.

George Leeson?/b?, of the little band of old timers in the city, died this morning at 2 o'clock. For the last three or four years Mr. Leeson has suffered in health and when the end came he passed away painlessly in his sleep. He was 68 years of age.
The deceased gentleman has been in bed ever since the month of December of last year. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic body.
George K. Leeson came to Manitoba in 1880, afterwards coming west and engaging in the mail service, contracting to carry the mails from Qu-Apelle to Prince Albert, Swift Current, Battleford, Calgary, Edmonton and all western points which in those days was no small undertaking. Some years later Mr. Leeson moved to Calgary, where he has been one of Alberta's active business men and had always found among her most progressive citizens. He has been engaged in general merchandising, railroad contracting and many other speculations. He was the owner of large ranching interests at Morley, on the main line of the C.P.R., and has large property holdings in Calgary and other towns in the northwest. There were few men, if any, who had greater interests in Alberta than Mr. Leeson and there was no man in the Canadian northwest who had more friends. His successful business career was marked by honorable and upright dealings with his fellow man, and in the community where he lived there was non more respected or better liked.
He leaves a wife and a family of three. One daughter, Eileen, and a son, reside at home and another daughter, Mrs. M. Buchanan, lives at Winnipeg but was at her father's bedside when he passed away.

Peacefully at the Smiths Falls Hospital on Monday November 14, 2011. Lyle Leeson in his 89th year. Beloved husband and soul mate of 66 years to Kay Leeson (nee Bligdon). Loving, caring and adored father of Allan (Elsie) Leeson, Trudy (Dave) Greer, Gary Griz Leeson, Wendy (Don) Looby, Mary (Randy) McCord, Julie (Gary) Foster. WILLIAM MELVILLE "MEL" KILFOYLE Peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2002, Mel passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital SBGH. He was predeceased by his beloved Margaret, wife of 58 years; and his brothers, Albert "Buster" and Stan; as well as his sister Joy. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Maureen (Gord Knox), Murray (Jacqueline) and Marilyn (Fred Lindenschmidt). He will be greatly missed by all of his grand-children and great-grandchildren, Valerie (Richard)-Yeshi, Tavi, Tobiah; Denise; Nathan; Michael (Kathy)-Ashley, Jordan; Kimberley-Brooklyn; Susan; Kourtenay. Mel was born at SBGH on August 7, 1915, to Henry Melville and Eunice Kilfoyle. He lived his childhood in St. Boniface only a block away from SBGH and recently recalled how as children he and his friends had liberated many vegetables from the nuns gardens behind the hospital. During the Dirty Thirties Mel found work at some of the work camps in Northwest Ontario and liked to tell his children about riding the rails to Vancouver in search of work and selling day old doughnuts on the street to get by. Mel and Margaret met at the Kildonan Canoe Club and were married September 17, 1941. The early years of their marriage were spent at Trenton, ON, where Mel was stationed with the Air Force. He was honourably discharged as a leading aircraftman on December 17, 1945, and the family including Maureen relocated to Flin Flon, MB. Mel worked in the sheet metal trade and both he and Margaret were active in the community, including Kinsmen and Kinettes. Their son Murray was born in Flin Flon and in 1953 they returned to Winnipeg residing in Fort Rouge initially, then Windsor Park where Marilyn was born. In 1973 they relocated to the Oakbank area and became involved in equestrian activities with Marilyn. They retired back to Winnipeg in 1985. During all those years, Mel continued to work in the heating and air conditioning field finally retiring from his own sales agency, Applied Combustion Limited. Early on in his life Mel developed a strong interest in drawing and art in general. Unfortunately being an artist was not really accepted by his family as a meaningful occupation and he was discouraged from pursuing this interest; after all art supplies were expensive and frivolous. His interest was rekindled in the Air Force where he ran an art school with his friend Phil Aziz. Mel always put the needs of his family first and together he and Marg worked hard to support their family and all of their childrens varied interests. Together Marg and Mel were a great team. Dad was always interested in his childrens activities and demonstrated his support quietly by just being there whether in a sports arena, musical event or equestrian venue. Mels interest in art continued but always took a back seat to the families needs; even so he managed to produce many excellent and varied pieces of art. His art reflected his approach to life which was very open and accepting of different points of view and cultures. This is not to say he did not like a good debate and would love to call something black if you thought it was white, especially if he was debating with his two nephews Gary and Donald. Cremation has taken place. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 27 from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Following the gathering, from 3:45 to 5:00 there will be a one man art show of some of Mels work also at 1858 Portage Ave.; the family will also receive friends and family for a come and go visitation during the art show. It was Mels last request that he be remembered as an artist. The art show will be followed by an open house at his sons home. The family would like to thank all of Mels friends who supported him after Margarets death especially our Aunt Rosalie. A special thanks to those who were able to visit him in the hospital particularly Louise Last who spent many hours comforting him in the final weeks. The family would also like to recognize the excellent work of the doctors, nurses and staff at SBGH emergency, vascular and geriatric wards. Peacefully at Arbour Heights, Kingston on Tuesday February 5, 2019. Wallace Kilfoyle, formerly of Seeley's Bay, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Alice Leavitt and the late Audrey Cooke. Dear father of Richard (Nancy) of Kingston and Dave (Jane) of Westport. Step-father of Tasha (Graeme) Medd. Predeceased by brothers; Stanley, Gerald and Murray Kilfoyle. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren; Jon (Jen), Emily (C.J.), Shannon (Kevin) and Rob as well as great-grandsons; George and Colton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the SCOTLAND FUNERAL HOME, 27 Main Street, Elgin on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service in Our Chapel at 1 p.m. Inurnment St. John's Cemetery, Innisville at a later date. Lyle Thompson, beloved husband of Kathy Turner of Airdrie, AB, passed away, after a long, hard battle with brain cancer, on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the age of 55 years.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 4, 1956, Lyle attended Kelvin High School and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.Sc. Eng (Civil). Lyle worked for various prairie engineering firms constructing malls, bridges and buildings. Lyle's world revolved around the well being of his children, they were his greatest source of pride. Lyle was a very special man ? kind, courageous, never complaining, forever logical, always seeking knowledge and sharing his knowledge. Photography was one of his joys, when Lyle and Kathy travelled to tropical destinations or his beloved Alberta Rockies many souvenirs were taken. Lyle's easy nature, positive attitude, intelligence and loyalty will be missed terribly by all who knew him.

Lyle leaves behind to mourn his passing, his best friend and wife Kathy; children David, Richard, Robert and Stephanie; step-children Carrie (Cameron) Davies and Tammy Gervais (Brendon Langlois); parents Gordon and Doreen; sister Brenda (Ken) Leach and brother Keith (Patti); grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

JOHN STANLEY KILFOYLE (October 15, 1946 - May 22, 2015) John passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital on Friday, May 22, 2015, surrounded by the love of family members. Remembering him are Dale, his wife of 45 years, sister Darlene (Ian Bremner) and their family Ryan, Kevan, Kristan, Daryn, stepfather Steve Kovacs, brothers-in-law Bud Ulrich and Roy McGaw, sister-in-law Tawny (Jim) Landon and family Jason (Jaxon) and Tara (Jay) Rivera and their children Paytin and Cortez, along with extended family, nieces, nephews and their families, as well as numerous friends. Growing up in Fort Rouge, he was proud to be known as one of the original "Ebby Avenue Boys". If ever there was a mischievous adventure to be had, John would find it. John and Dale enjoyed spending time with their newfound friends at their "home away from home" in Phoenix.
