Emma Saul, 91, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 24 at her home in Douglas on North Third Street. She came to Wyoming with her husband, Willard Saul, in 1901. Previous to that time, Mr. Saul with his brothers, Henry C. and Charles, had formed the LaBonte Livestock Company on LaBonte. The family lived on LaBonte until 1913, when Mr. Saul and his brother, Henry C., purchased the 4T Ranch on Horseshoe. Later, the family moved to Douglas where Mr. Saul engaged in the hardware business with his son, Veldon, in 1930. Mr. Saul died in 1947. Mrs. Saul is survived by two sons, Veldon of Douglas, and Vernon of Marysville, California; a daughter, Vera Saul Trumper of Douglas; her sister, Lillian Gibson, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Elizabeth Gibson passed away in the Casper Memorial Hospital on February 26, 1965.

"Aunt Lil" as she was affectionately known to her many friends and neighbors, was the last of the S. A. Gibson family which originated in Counties Wexford and Kilkenny, Ireland. Aunt Lil came to Douglas from Dow City, Iowa, 25 years ago, to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Willard A. Saul, who passed away December 24, 1962. For the past year, Aunt Lil had been in failing health.

She is survived by a niece, Vera Saul Trumper, and Vernon W. Saul and Veldon H. Saul, nephews; and other nieces and nephews in Iowa and Oregon; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.

Vera Saul Trumper, age 90, died Sunday, May 21, 1989 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Willard A. and Emma S. (Gibson) Saul. She moved to Wyoming with her parents and two brothers in 1901, and they lived on ranches on LaBonte Creek and Owl Creek south of Douglas. She was reared and educated in Converse County, graduating from the Converse County High School. She attended Ferry Hall College in Chicago. She worked for the Maurer & Garst law firm for several years. She then worked as a secretary for Morton, Inc. for many years, retiring from that job in the late 1970s. She has resided in Douglas during her retirement years. She is survived by one son, O'Donnell Trumper of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Patty Murray of Casper; four grandchildren, Kay Bourquin of Casper, and Kelly, Michael and Colleen Trumper, all of Tucson; and four great grandchildren. Veldon H. Saul, known to his many friends as "Pep", passed away in Douglas on November 2 following a heart attack. Mr. Saul was born on the Saul Ranch south of Douglas. He attended the University of Woming and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He also was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 10, A.F.& A.M., and Woodbine Chapter No. 18, Order of the Eastern Star. He and his wife served as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Woodbine in 1958. Mr. Saul served on the city council for twelve years, and for 29 years -- from 1926 to 1955, was Fire Chief of the Douglas Fire Department. He owned and operated a hardware and jewelry business in Douglas, and had been associated in this business with his father, W. A. Saul, until his father's death in 1947. Since that time Pep continued the hardware store known as the Saul Company. He continued to add to his father's gun collection and it is considered to be one of the finest in the west. He is survived by his widow, Juliana Saul; a son, Richard Saul; sister, Vera Saul Trumper, and brother, Vernon W. Saul, of Marysville, California. ?/b?Robert William Gibson, 33, was killed Monday morning while working in the woods between Nashville and Loeston. He was struck by a limb while falling a tree. The accident was investigated by the Lincoln county coroner s office.
The son of William B. and Rose Ann Gibson, he was born on November 27, 1921 in Schaller, Iowa. In 1938 he moved with his familv to Philomath where he graduated from Philomath high school. On November 9, 1940, he was married to Leona Small in Philomath. He entered the National Guard the same year and served for five years, receiving his discharge from the U. S. Army in 1945.
The couple lived in Summit until 1940 when they moved to Philomath where they lived until 1950 when they came to Corvallis to make lheir home.
He was a member of the Corvallis Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife and one daughter, Leslie Gayle Gibson, Corvallis; his mother, Mrs. Rose Ann Gibson, Corvallis; three sisters. Mrs. Louis Auld, Portland. Mrs. Wayne Pankalla, Corvallls, and Mrs. Mclvin Olson, Philomath; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral service will be held at the Mayflower Chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m. under the direction of the DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home.

Vera Patricia Trumper Murray died on Oct. 15, 2007 after a long battle with lung disease. She graduated school in Douglas and attended the University of Wyoming. Later she moved to California and worked at North American Airlines building airplanes during World War II. There she met M. J. "Murph" Murray and they were married on May 4, 1943 in Yuma, Arizona. She returned to Douglas and worked at the POW Camp and awaited Murph's return from the Air Force. Pat and Murph made their home in and around Wyoming where Murph worked for different drilling companies. Then they started Murray Drilling Service, which they operated together until their retirement. They turned the company over to their daughter Kay and her husband Rob Bourquin. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Kay Bourquin and her husband Rob of Casper; brother O'Donell Trumper, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren James Bourquin and Veronica Bourquin Hancock and her husband K. C.; great-grandchildren Taylor Bourquin and Shelbee, Bradlee and Mckaylee Hancock. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Murph. Died:
O'Donell (Don) Trumper passed away unexpectedly from a short illness on Jan. 14, 2015, at the age of 88. He was born in Douglas, on April 30, 1926, to Otis and Vera Trumper.

Don, a family man, was a devoted, loving husband and proud, wonderful father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Joanne, sons Kelly and Michael, daughter Colleen, stepson Gary Hansen and seven grandchildren. He loved and was loved by
in-laws Jim and Barbara Read, Ernie and Donna Douglas and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Murray of Casper.

As a member of the "Greatest Generation," he enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944 and crewed on the quick A-20 "skip bomber" in the South Pacific during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and found employment in Wyoming's oil industry. He moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1955 seeking new opportunities and a warmer climate. In 1959, he returned briefly to Wyoming to marry the "love of his life," Joanne Read. They were married on July 15, 1959, and together returned to Tucson where they lovingly shared 55 happy and blissful years.

He was a 30-year employee of Tucson Rock & Sand/Tanner Companies and retired in 1985. In retirement, Don and Joanne enjoyed motorhoming, traveling from the Arctic Circle in Alaska to Nova Scotia and everywhere in between. They loved being together and seeing this great country. Recent years found the two of them still most deeply in love and contentedly enjoying family and home. The radio hobby, both CB and HAM, was an important part of his life. It was 1973 when KFR8871, the "Leapin' Lizard," was born into the CB Radio world. Later, with his desire to communicate with anyone and everyone around the world, Ham Radio Operator "KD7JBN" hit the airwaves. Over the course of four decades, with his friendly, lively banter, he touched the lives of thousands.

You could never meet a more warm, gentle and sincere man. His delightful smile and laugh and his twinkling blue eyes bespoke his loving and generous nature. He possessed a sharp mind to the very end and could discuss current events as easily as reminiscing about the good old days. As a true American patriot, he was very proud of his service to his country. He was a 64-year member of The American Legion, Post 8 in Douglas.
