People were shocked to learn of the sudden death, early Monday morning of Mr John Rose of Pakenham Township. He was a comparatively young man having been born on Sept 3rd, 1913. Mr Rose was a bachelor and had made his home with his cousin, Mr Ed Rose, on the family homestead of for the last 20 years. He had a heart condition which had not bothered him to a great extent up to the time of his death. He helped with the work around the farm and did not complain about feeling badly on the last night he retired. He was taken suddenly ill early in the morning and passed away before medical aid arrived. The late Mr Rose was a son of the late John E. Rose and Mary Cavers of Pakenham Township and was born on the farm where he died. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon from the Comba Funeral Home to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev T.R. Hutcheson of the Reformed Presbyterian Church conducted the service, assisted by Rev H.C. Wolfraim of Bethany United Church. Deceased was a deacon of the first mentioned Religious denomination. Pallbearers at his funeral were: John Morton, John Waddell, Allan, Thos and Wm Burns and Wm Bowes. Among many floral offerings were pieces from the Reformed Presbyterian Church and C.Y.P.U.
