?b?Mrs Joseph Chapman?/b?
There passed away at her home on the 9th line of Ramsay, on Friday morning, Dec 18th, a well known and highly respected resident of the township, Mrs Joseph Chapman. Born in Ramsay Township in 1871, deceased was the daughter of the late Daniel Drummond and his wife Margaret McCallum, pioneer settles of Ramsay. She was married to Mr. Joseph Chapman on May 23, 1895. He died in 1919. There remain to mourn her loss one son and three daughters: Jno M. Chapman on the homestead, 9th line Ramsay, and Miss Marion, Lillian and Helen of Ottawa. Two children Sandy and Isobel died in early childhood, Of her own immediate family Mrs Chapman is survived by two brothers and four sisters: David Drummond of Ramsay; George of Bristol, Que.; (Jessie) Mrs Robert Dunlop and Marion Drummond of Carleton Place; (Mary) Mrs Alex Stewart and (Agnes) Mrs Lawson Stewart of Arnprior. The many expressions of sympathy and beautiful flower bespoke the respect and esteem in which Mrs Chapman was held during her life. Among the many floral pieces were a beautiful basket from her neighbours; a wreath from the Carleton Place W.F.O. and W.F.W.O. clubs of which Mrs Chapman was an active and ever-interested member; a spray from the Treasury Office of the Dept of Labour and from the Purchasing Branch of the Dept. of Munitions and Supplies, Ottawa; choir of the First United Church, Ottawa. Executive of the Presbyterial of the W.M.S. Ottawa, and a basket from the staff and pupils of Percy Street School, Ottawa. The funeral was held on Sunday from the family home, 9th line of Ramsay. The service was conducted by the Rev. D.C. Munroe of Memorial Park Church, Carleton Place. The pallbearers were Messrs. John Cram, Robert Reid, Wm. Anderson, W.H. Hawkins, H.G. Lowry and Percy Drynan. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Christina married Joseph Chapman on 23 May 1895. Joseph (son of John Chapman and Ann McKinley) was born on 1 Jul 1862 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 7 Apr 1919 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 9 Apr 1919 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. ?b?Last Tribute Is Paid To John M. Chapman?/b?
Following a long period of failing health, John Malcolm Chapman passed away on Friday evening, July 11th, at his home, 9th line of Ramsay. Son of the late Joseph Chapman and his wife, Christine Margaret Drummond, he was born January 17, 1898, at Bristol, Que. In 1908, his family returned to Ramsay settling on the 7th line. Ten years later the home was established on the 9th line where Mr Chapman has since resided. The late Mr Chapman is survived by his widow, Dora Briggs Cannon, second daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Allan Cannon, to whom he was united in marriage January 10, 1939, and by his sisters, Marion Lillian and Helen (Mrs A.G. Ker) all of Ottawa. The funeral was held from the family home on Monday afternoon, July 14, at 2 p.m., Rev D.C. Munro of Memorial Park United Church, Carleton Place, conducting the service. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. The pallbearers were J.W. Cram, H.S. Young, Robt P. Reid, W.J. Anderson, H.W. Hawkins and D. Hollie Lowry. The funeral was largely attended and there were many beautiful floral offerings. Relatives from Wisconsin, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Aylmer West, Antwerp, N.Y., and Bristol, Que., were present at the funeral.

John married Dora Briggs Cannon on 10 Jan 1939. Dora (daughter of Allan Carswell Cannon and Jennie May Austin) was born on 14 Aug 1900 in Lacombe, Red Deer Census Division, Alberta, Canada; died on 2 Jan 1980 in Barrie, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
