    (September 14, 1925 - June 4, 2023)
Peacefully passed away at home in Beckwith, Ontario surrounded by his family on Sunday June 4, 2023 in his 98th year. Eldest son of William and Ada (Kearney) McEwen, Finley lived a full life on the Family Farm, which was called Glen Athol in Beckwith Township. Later he began operating his own Saw Mill in 1940 where he and his crew took in trees to be made and sold for lumber. Finley was well known around for his Mill as locals would seek to buy and learn a piece of history. His deep knowledge for airplanes and trains spanned many decades, which always created a fascination from anyone who struck up a conversation. Finley was an original founding member of the Beckwith Volunteer Fire Department, since 1964 and served for years to follow. He was actively part of the Freemasonry for 70 years and loyal member of his church for decades. Finley has generously given to over 60 charities during his lifetime. Over the many years that Finley has lived so many have remembered how kind and willing he always was to assist a person in need. Finley will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Finley leaves behind his beloved wife Kathryn Mary Lee McEwen and son Paul Finley McEwen (daughter in-law Julie-Anne).
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join the family for visitation held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00pm, and 7:00 to 9:00pm with a Masonic Service at 6:30 pm at Alan R. Barker Funeral Home & Chapel, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11:00 am with Rev. Bob Hill officiating, reception to follow.
