    James McCreary Dies in Toronto
    Arnprior Man Well-Known in North Ontario and District
    ARNPRIOR, Ont., Dec 3, - Friends in Arnprior and vicinity heard with deep regret of the death in Toronto of James McCreary, well-known in lumbering circles in Northern Ontario, where he was interested in many enterprises. He was in his 54th year and was ill only a short time. For many years he had resided in this place. Mr McCreary was born in Merrickville, Ont., son of the late Mr and Mrs James McCreary. the early part of his life was spent here and in McNab Township, where he was a successful farmer until the lumbering industry claimed his interest and he became active along the Ottawa. He was married early in life to Miss Isabel Tait, of Pakenham, who died in 1914. Later he was married to Mrs C. Dulmage, of Arnprior, who survives. Mr McCreary resided in Arnprior for many years and moved to Sudbury about 15 years ago but Wintered in Toronto. He was for many years an active member of the McNab Township Council but as his business affairs increased he could not devote himself sufficiently to municipal affairs and reigned. Besides his widow he is survived by five daughters, Mrs R.L. Hatton, of Toronto; Mrs John Phelan, of Quebec City; Mrs H.A. Short and Miss Edna McCreary of Arnprior, and Miss Betty McCreary of Toronto; three sons, Charles McCreary of Castleford, Ont.; William McCreary, of Dunrankin; James McCreary, of Toronto; one sister, Mrs Dawson K. Elliott, of Winnipeg, Man., and one brother, Baldwin McCreary, of Golden Lake, B.C. The body will be brought to Arnprior and the funeral will be held from the home of deceased's son-in-law H.A. Short, Harrington street, at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be in the family plot at Arnprior cemetery.

    Hiram McCreary Paid Final Tribute
    Largely attended by many friends and former associates, the funeral of Mr. Hiram McCreary, former member of the Provincial Parliament, was held on December 28th from the home of his son, Harwood, who resides on the original McCreary homestead in Ramsay township. This is where McCreary's pioneer grandfather settled, when he emigrated from Ireland 132 years ago. A son of the late Joseph McCreary and his wife, Harriet Bailey, and the last member of their family of ten, he was married to the former Katherine McKay of Smiths Falls, who predeceased him in 1920. He passed away on December 25th, at the home of his daughter, Mr. S. A. Graham of Jasper, Ont., in his 92nd year. Mr. McCreary's interests included provincial, municipal, educational and religious affairs. He was a member of the County Cheese Board for many years, and served as secretary-treasurer and salesman of the IXL Cheese Factory. Services were held in Boyd's United Church, and conducted by Rev. N. C. McFarlane, assisted by Rev. J. E. Wilson of the Holiness Movement Church. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Chief mourners were four daughters, Mrs. S. A. Graham (Mildred); Miss Harriet McCreary, Mrs. E. Blanchard (Annie ) , Miss Mabel McCreary, and one son, Mr. Harwood McCreary. Many beautiful floral tributes were received and donations to the Bible Society given in his memory. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Peter Moffatt, Oliver Dezell, Harold Stevens, Dr. R. H. McCreary, Daniel McCreary and Keith Graham.

    McCREARY, Captain John February 10, 1932 - November 16, 2011 John passed away peacefully with his son by his side in Surrey, BC. He is predeceased by his wife Gail, daughter Linda and brother Douglas. John is survived by his son Ken; grandson John Bieker; sisters Helen (Roger) Latham and Dorothy Throssel (Jim); as well as extended family and friends. He was a captain on the tow boats of the West Coast waters and spent his spare time fishing with his son. He is now with his wife Gail of 53 years whom he survived by only 15 days. His outgoing personality will be missed by everybody. A Funeral Service for John will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm in Arbor Chapel, Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660 72 Avenue, Surrey, BC.     SHANNON, Mabel - Mabel Harriet Shannon-Hurley of Brockville, passed away at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the age of 82 years. Born in Campbell's Bay, Quebec in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Sterling Graham and Mildred McCreary. Sister of the late Dr. Keith Graham (Malaysia) and Catherine Taylor (Cardinal). Mabel enjoyed teaching in many schools in Brockville and area after graduating from Ottawa Teachers College in 1955. In 1957, she married Johnston Shannon and they moved to Brockville raising three sons Hunter, Lindsay and Graham. After being involved in many community activities, curling, YWCA, Wall St. Church, skiing and travelling, the cottage at Charleston Lake was very special to her and her family. In 1996, John passed away, leaving Mabel, Hunter, Lindsay, Graham (Janet), Faith and Jessica. After many travels, Mabel married John (Al) Hurley in 2006 and shared their family's holidays and dinners. Life was good as she was very busy with her many grandchildren. She will be remembered by Al's children, John Hurley (Norma), Carol Holmgren (Steve), Chris Hurley (Sharon), and Wendy Hurley, and by Al's other family members including Patrick (Amanda), Sean, Kevin, Matthew, Michael, Ben, and Alexis. Mabel's and Al's families would like to express their thanks to friends and those who gave their support and care over many years.     Patricia "Patsy " Euphemia McCreary (1936?1947)

    Patsy Euphemia McCreary, youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Harwood McCreary, passed away at the Toronto General hospital Saturday morning, November 15th, where she had gone for quite a serious operation. The operation was quite successful but wee Patsy slipped away twenty-four hours later instantaneously. Patsy was in her 11th year. Her sweet and winsome ways endeared her to a host of friends. Her patient, sunshiny courage, though her life was a delicate one, is an inspiration to her bereaved family.
    Services were conducted by Rev. M. Robert Boston at the family residence, H. McCreary's, to United Cemetery at Boyd's Settlement. She leaves to mourn her loss: mother, dad, brother Dan, sister Constance, grandfather , Mr. Hiram McCreary. "I am the resurrection and the Life. He that believeth on me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and he that liveth and believeth in Me shall never die".

    Of Surrey passed away at the age of 43 years. She is lovingly remembered by her family: son John; parents, John and Gail McCreary; brother Ken; as well many other family members and friends. Graveside service will take place Saturday, December 13th at 12:30 pm at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660 - 72nd Ave., Surrey, BC. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at The Free Presbyterian Church of Cloverdale, 18790 - 58 Ave., Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cloverdale Free Presbyterian Church in Linda's memory will be appreciated.
