    We regret to learn of the death of John Madden, Ramsay township. He was one of the oldest and most esteemed residents of that part of the county and one of the most generous benefactors of St. Mary's Church, Almonte in years gone by. The deceased was the father of Mrs. Nicholas Bawlf of Winnipeg and was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1819 and came to Canada in his boyhood with his parents.

    -Again the Angel of death has visited Ramsay township and this time has claimed William Richard Madden, who passed away very peacefully at his home on Saturday evening at five o'clock. The deceased was the eldest son of the late Mr. John Madden, one of the pioneers of the township, who passed from our midst twenty-three years ago. William remained on the homestead.
    Thirty-three years ago he married Miss. Margaret Powell, of Arnprior, and to them eight children were born; seven girls and one boy. who is the 'youngest. They are: Mrs. Wm. DiIIon, Braeside; Mrs. Frank O'Brien, Carleton Place; Margaret, Winnifred, Laura and William John, at home;Etta of the N. Bawlf Grain Exchange, Winnipeg, Man., and Maude, of the Pembroke public school. He Is survived by all these and his little niece. Marjorle, also three sisters, Mrs. Nicholas BawIf, Winnipeg, Man.; Mrs. Ellen Enright, Tacoma, Wash.and Mrs. Mary McKay, Seattle, Wash. His only brother, Timothy. of Grand Rapids, Mich., predeceased him thirteen years ago.
    The late Mr. Madden was subject to paralytic strokes and had been ailing for about a year. The third one came upon him Wednesday afternoon and for three days he rallied "until the Golden gates were opened and a gentle voice said Come" He bore his, long suffering very patiently and his demise at the age of sixty-seven is mourned by all who Knew him, for he was a kind and loving husband and father, a true friend and a good neighbor. His funeral which was largely attended took place from his late residence, 12th line of Ramsay, to St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Almonte, on Tuesday morning at eight o'clock, thence to the ninth line cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs James Galvin, Ed. Kennedy, Patrick Kelly, Wm. O'Brien, George O'Brien and Robert Powell.
    Mrs. Madden and family have the deepest sympathy of all in their sad bereavement..

    Peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Beverly (Brydges), his devoted daughter Jo Ann (Jack Donaldson) and two grandsons Christopher and Jonathan of whom he was so proud. He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey Joseph, his parents John and Loretta (Hogan), his sister Mary (late Harry Oikle), his brother Lawrence and his brother Gerald (late Leona). Joe is a cherished brother of Kathleen (late Joe) Carroll, Desmond (late Diane), Leo, Bernard (Sharon), Dorothy (late Ray) Robertson and Raymond (Shirley). He will be dearly missed by the Brydges family and many nieces and nephews in both families. A dedicated husband, father, Poppa & brother, Joe was a true man of the soil. Proudly farming his beloved Tara Hill for over 65 years, he was 6th generation to farm the original Madden land grant of 1840. He persevered in good times and bad, looking back at his accomplishments with pride.     Father Egan was assisted by Re. Raymond Burke and Rev. Leo Hickey. Rev. John Devine and Rev. Leo Leahy were also in the sanctuary.
    The pallbearers were Edgar Carroll, Greg Mantill, James Gleeson, Gordon Brydges, Joe Forest and Jimmy Kirkland.
    Mr. Madden leaves his mother, Mrs. John Madden, six brothers, Joseph, Desmond, Gerald, Leo, a twin, Bernard and Raymond, and three sisters, Mary of Ottawa and Kay and Dorothy of Almonte.

    Bernard (Bun) Madden passed away suddenly at his home in Smiths Falls on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the age of 77. Son of the late John Madden and the late Loretta Hogan. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (McLean) Madden. Loving father of Daniel (Marilou) Madden and Tammy (Mark) Boisclair. Devoted Poppa to Nicole and Brock Boisclair and F?lix Madden. Dearly loved brother of Kathleen Carroll (late Joe), Desmond (late Diane), Dorothy Robertson (late Ray) and Raymond (Shirley). Predeceased by his sister Mary (late Harry) Oikle, brothers Joseph (Beverly), Gerald (late Leona), Lawrence and Leo. He will be dearly missed by the McLean family, his many nieces and nephews, as well as the many friends he made at arenas and ball diamonds.     Obituary of Raymond Edward Madden
    Wearing his favourite Irish cap, at home and surrounded by his loving wife and children on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 78. As a family we are incredibly saddened to announce the passing of a quiet, loving, brilliant man. Ray was the loving husband and best friend of Shirley (nee Boal), wonderful father to Sheri Madden (Jeff Day) and Chris Madden (Terri). He was the proud grandfather of Liam and Logan Day and Raeley and Taryn Madden. Ray was born on September 30, 1943 in Almonte and was the youngest of 10 children to Loretta (Hogan) and John Madden. He was a teacher, an athlete, a coach, a businessman and a believer in fairness, equality, learning and teamwork. He had a passion for sports, music, travel, history, education and his family and friends. We will miss everything about him, each and every day. Our family would like to thank the Bayshore nurses and Dr. Kristen Church for their compassionate care and support and the many friends and family who gave us love and support throughout Ray's illness. There will be a visitation taking place at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel on Monday, at 1:00 p.m. Due to current Covid restrictions, the family are asking all those attending must show proof of vaccination, along with government issued photo ID to gain entry to any and all of the events for Ray. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Champions For Kids, Upper Canada District School Board.

    Suddenly on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at age 40. Jeffrey Joseph Madden, beloved son of Joe and Bev. Loving brother of JoAnn (Jack) Donaldson and best friend and uncle to Chris and Jonathan. Jeff will be fondly remembered by the Madden and Brydges families and by his good friends.
