?b?MRS. MARY BUTLER DIES AT BLADWORTH.
BLADWORTH ?/b?- Death claimed one of Bladworth's earliest settlers and the oldest resident, Oct. 3, when Mrs. Mary Butler, widow of the late J. P. Butler, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. William Conlin of Knob Hill district. A few days ago Mrs. Butler suffered a slight accident, injuring two ribs. Mrs. Butler was 91 year of age last March and up to the time of her accident was very active with complete use of all her faculties. She often came to town with her daughter, Mrs, Conlin, and enjoyed visiting her many friends and attending the various meetings and community gatherings.
Mrs. Butler's maiden name was Mary Lyons, and she was born in Carleton county, Ontario, coming west with her husband in 1907 from Renfrew, Ont, and a family of 12 children. Mr. Butler predeceased her in 1933.
Six sons and four daughters are left to mourn her. Hilliard of Moose Jaw, George E. and Norman E., both of Bladworth; Sam of Renfrew, Ont.; Hawley of Calgary, Alta.; Harvey of Fort Qu 'Appelle; Mrs. John Baird of Moose Jaw, Mrs. John Conlin of Moose Jaw, Mrs. D. A. MacDonald, Winnipeg; Mrs. Wm. Conlin, Bladworth. Two daughters, Gertrude (Mrs James Smlth, Saskatoon), died in 1919, and Maud In 1889. A son, John, died at Winnipeg in 1937 and two other sons, Clarence and Howard, died in Infancy, making a total of 15 children. There are 30 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Bladworth United church with Rev. W. McWhinney officiating.

Eliza was born, raised, and wed at Goulbourn Township. She married William Sykes, a farmer, on September 19, 1859. They farmed in the area until moving to the Dakota Territory in 1878. Soon after the turn of the century, they moved across the border to Manitoba. Eliza died at age 83 after contacting bronchitis, which proved too much for her advanced age. She had been living with her son William since her husband's death in 1904. She was the mother of 10 children -- John, Elizabeth, Hiram, Margaret, Mary Jane, Amanda, William, Samuel, Sarah, and another William. At the time of her death, Eliza was the grandmother of 41 and the great-grandmother of 51.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 1 :30 P.M. conducted by Rev. Dr. William F. Clarke from Grace-Westmlnster United Church, 50S 10th Street East. The late Mr. Butler was born in Renfrew, Ontario. In 1907 he came west to Bladworth, Saskatchewan where he married Janet (nee McBroom) in 1916 and they farmed In the Knob Hill district until 1956 when they moved to the town of Bladworth. Mr. and Mrs. Butler retired in 1977 and came to Saskatoon where he had since resided. Mr. Butler formed the Valley View Rural Telephone Co., being Secretary from 1911 until the dissolution of the company In 1977. Mr. Butler also served as Secretary of the Knob Hill School District for many years and was an Honorary Life Member of the Davidson Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was active In various community affairs as well as being involved in political and civic affairs and had a keen interest In addition to participating in various sports. Memorial donations may be made to the Grace-Westminster United Church Memorial Fund. The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Roy Palmer, Gordon Palmer, Merril Palmer, Elmer McCreary, Joe Brkich, Hector Nordquist, Lome McCreary, Sterling Hubbs, Jack Ames, Gordon Bessey, Joe Udycz and Harold Barlow. Mrs. Mary Jane Coffey, a pioneer resident of the Munich community, passed away Saturday, January 3, 1942, at her home in Munich after an illness of more than three weeks with a heart ailment.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Zion Lutheran church at Munich with Rev. Thomas B. Lindsay of Langdon in charge. Interment was in the family plot in the cemetery at Emerado, beside the remains of Mr. Coffey. A quartet composed of Isaac Hoffman, H. J. Dick. H. F. Dick, and W. S. Mary Jane, daughter of William and Eliza Sykes, was born August 12, 1867, at Ashton, Ont. She came to Grand Forks county with her parents in 1878 and was married at Grand Forks in 1882 to Hugh John Coffey. The couple first farmed six miles west of Osnabrock, and in 1887 moved back to Grand Forks county, where they farmed until 1904 when they moved to the new town of Munich to operate a hotel. Mr. Coffey passed away October 12, 1939.
Eight children were born to the couple and four survive. They are Mrs. J. H. Watters of Nashua, Mont.; Mrs. C. E. Render of Hannah; and John H. and William E. Coffey of Munich. Fourteen grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Steve Caul of Cartwright, Man.; and Mrs. George Batson of Conklin, Mich.; are sisters who survive and William Sykes of Cartwright is a brother who survives.
The family was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, and Mrs. Coffey was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were her daughter, Mrs. Watters of Nashua, Mont.; and Mrs. Render of Hannah; Rose Hamilton of Colorado Springs Colo.; and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hamilton, Mrs. F. E. Hawley, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Nickeson, and Mrs. J. H. Bain of Langdon.

Beloved wife of Ronald Glasner. Loving mother of Joyce Glasner (Doug Strongman), Richard Glasner (Karen) and Judith Ross. Grandmother of Alexa Ross. Dear sister of Patsy Wallace and the late Anna Crowder. Shirley worked as a Senior Estimating Clerk at Computing Devices, was past President of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Manotick Legion, was an active member of the recreation association of Pierce's Corners and loved to travel. The family wishes to thank the Queensway Carleton Hospital 4th Floor Palliative Care nurses and volunteers for their kindness and care. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Wayne Thompson, age 65 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, following a lengthy and dignified battle with cancer. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Eleanor; children, Joanne (Norm) Boyes, Kevin (Nancy) Thompson and Kelly (Autumn) Thompson; grandson Ethan Wayne Thompson; father Ruthven Dave; brothers, Robert (Sherry) and David (Susan); and mother-in-law, Anna Lasco. Wayne was predeceased by his mother Florence Thompson; father-in-law, Joseph Lasco; and brother-in-law, Raymond Lasco. Wayne was born on March 31, 1942, In Davidson, SK, He moved at an early age to Saskatoon. Wayne graduated from the College of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan in 1963 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1966. He was employed by Touche Ross and Smith Rolls before joining Federated Co-operatives Limited In 1970. Wayne became Chief Executive Officer In 1983 and continued in that position until poor health led to his retirement in 2007. Wayne was extremely knowledgeable in most sports. He especially enjoyed the years he played fastball for K and K Olson. Wayne deeply loved and was very proud of his children. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon). The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church (812 Preston Avenue S., Saskatoon). Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemeterv. Saskatoon. Walter Eugene Watters, 81, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

He was born on October 3, 1927, in Nashua, Montana, the son of James Albert and Eliza Jane Coffey Watters. Walt was born on a farmstead in rural Nashua, Montana, and attended a one-room country school for his early educa- tion. He completed his studies at Nashua High School early and subsequently joined the U.S. Army. Walt served in Italy in the waning months of World War II, helping to keep the port city of Trieste free at the dawn of the Cold War. Upon discharge from the Army, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

He married Doris Lucille Palmer on December 31, 1952, in Culbertson, Montana. Walt devoted his life to his family. He and his wife, Doris, raised seven children and were deeply involved in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walt was a good provider for his family. His career as a Mechanical Engineer took him from Shell Chemical Co. in New York to Aerojet General in California to work on the space program, and then to Aerojet Nuclear and EG&G to work as project engineer at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory.

He was particularly proud of his turbo-pump rotor design for the M1 motor on the Titan Rocket program, on display at the Smithsonian Space Museum. Fishing with his grandchildren was a special joy and another opportunity to teach the lesson that you should always bait your own hook. Elk hunting with his sons and grandsons was a special love of his that he looked forward to over the entire year. Walt had everything laid out and ready for one last elk hunt of the season.

Walter was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His hobbies included family, hunting, fishing, hiking, target-shooting, camping, and he loved wildlife and being in nature. Walt exemplified all the character qualities for which the members of the greatest generation are known. He was honest, self-reliant, driven, giving, family-centered, responsible, humble, had a wry sense of humor and took pride in a job well done -- he prized excellence, a trait he cultivated in his children.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Watters of Idaho Falls; a son, Donald Watters of Idaho Falls; three daughters, Kathleen Hootman of San Jose, California, Nancy Wonacott of Boise and Diane Wagner of Sammamish, Washington; a son, James Watters of Idaho Falls, a son, Michael Watters of Fayetteville, North Carolina, a son, Samuel Watters of Bloomington, Minnesota; a brother, William Watters of Battle Ground, Washington; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and seven brothers.

At Walter's request, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. The family suggests that donations be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 S. Orchard St., Boise, ID 83705, in recognition of his role as a caregiver.

Maxine had been a Registered Surgical Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids for 40 years until her retirement when she moved to the White Cloud area. Gladys was a member of the Nurses Alumni Group of St. Mary's Hospital and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud.

Maxine is survived by her sister-in-law, Arlene Colson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilda Stark and Lois Colson; her brothers, George Colson and John Colson.
