    Died:
    Edwin S. Fleming died at Ottawa Civic Hospital Sept. 11, 1974 after an illness of three months. Born in Goulbourn Township Sept. 3, 1905, he was a son of the late of the late John Fleming and his wife, the late Catherine Ann Simpson. Mr. Fleming served his apprenticeship as a funeral director in Ottawa, where he worked until 1929. After eight years in Hamilton, he returned to Carleton Place in 1937. In 1939 he opened the first funeral home in Carleton Place, where he remained in business until May, 1972, when he sold to Kerry Funeral Home. Mr. Fleming was a member of St John's Lodge AF & AM, Stella Lodge IOOF, Carleton Place and LOL 97 Ashton. He was a member of the first C P & D Memorial Hospital Board in January 1950 and served on the board until the opening of the hospital in 1955. Mr. Fleming was married to Doris Ionson at Jarvis, Ontario, Jan. 6, 1932. He is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Anne (Mrs. George H. McGinnis) Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. and one brother, Earl Fleming, Carleton Place and two sisters; Lilly (Mrs. Thomas Simpson), Carleton Place and Maude (Mrs. 0. Patrick) Ottawa. Mr. Fleming was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. The pallbearers were: Thorold Culbertson, Cam Hughes, Arnold McNeely, Peter Parkman, Bill Simpson and Allan Taylor.

    Edwin married Doris E. Ionson, R. N. on 6 Jan 1932 in Jarvis, Ontario, Canada. Doris was born in 1909; died on 1 Jun 2002 in Carleton Place, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 4 Jun 2002 in Dewar Cemetery, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
