    REUBEN GILES
    Reuben Giles, a retired railroader, died on Thursday, October 22. He was in his 86th year and was born at Union Hall and resided there for some twenty-five years. He then moved to Blakeney where he lived until his wife; the former Bertha McArthur died some twenty-two months ago. He then moved to Almonte to live with his daughter and son-in-law. While in Blakeney he made many friends where he was known as a good neighbour. He suffered failing eyesight for some twenty years, which became an increasing handicap. Mr. Giles was one of a family of four, one of whom survives, namely Robert Giles of Almonte. There are also four half-sisters, Mrs. Eva Rankin, Ottawa; Mrs. Ada Traill, Smiths Falls; Mrs. Margaret Corrigan, Spruce Lake, Sask., and Mrs. Minnie Elliott, Sonningdale, Sask. Two half-brothers are deceased. Though Mr. Giles had been in failing health for some time the end came suddenly, and unexpectedly. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Almonte, on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. to the Auld Kirk. Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. George Arthur, James Bingham, George Robertson, Stewart Paterson, Lloyd Giles and Orville Giles.

    ALMONTE (Special) - Reuben Giles, a retired railroader, died here. He was 85. Born at Union Hall, he resided there for 25 years and then moved to Blakeney where he lived until his wife, the former Bertha McArthur, died some 22 months ago. He then moved to Almonte to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He leaves one brother, Robert Giles of Almonte; four half-sisters, Mrs. Eva Rankin, Ottawa; Mrs. Ada Traill, Smiths Falls;: Mrs. Margaret Corrigan, Spruce Lask, Sask., and Mrs. Minnie Elliott, Sonningdale, Sask.     Mrs Peter A.E. Young
    Following an illness of several months, the death occurred on Saturday, Jan 4th of Mrs Peter A.E. Young at the family residence, Cameron Street. Deceased was the former Sarah Ann Giles and was born in Ramsay Township, a daughter of the late Reuben Giles and his wife, Ann Duncan. In April 1904, she married Mr P.A.E. Young of Almonte and made her home in this town ever since. She is survived by one son, Ernest of Asbestos, Que, and by four brothers, namely, Albert of Almonte; George of Eden Mills, Ont; James of Smiths Falls and Robert John of Ottawa. Two other brothers predeceased her some time ago. Duncan of Thurso, Que, and Thomas of Smiths Falls. Mrs Young always took an active interest in church work and among the floral offerings was one from Circle Number Three of Bethany United Church. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from the family home to the Auld Kirk Cemetery, services being conducted by Rev W.J. Scott, pastor of the church, which deceased attended. The pallbearers were Messrs W.A. Young, Dr. J.K. Kelly, T.J. Reid, Jno Easton, M.R. Young and George Etherington of Arnprior.

    Sarah married Peter Alfred Ernest Young in 1904. Peter (son of Peter C.     Predeceased by his devoted wife Dianne (nee Toop). Cherished father to his 3 daughters Debbie (Tim), Brenda (Duane) and Colleen (Derek). Proud "Grandpa" of Terri (Dan), Robert, David, Jay, Aidan and Nate also his great-grandsons Caleb and Gabe. Survived by his sister Donna and predeceased by his parents Margaret and James. With special thanks to his sister in law Sharleen for all of her love and support. Donations in memory of David may be made to the Diabetes Association of Canada or to the War Amps.
