?b?SHARRERS?/b? - Dan.passed away suddenly on December 11, 1995 in Hope. B.C. Mourning the passing of this dear man, are his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara: son. Jay (Rachelle); son, Matt (Jennifer) Nana" Mabel Garrett; sisters, Gertie, in Jamaica and Ruth In England and nieces, great nieces and a great nephew in the USA and England. Born In Jamaica on January 8. 1927. Dan had a distinguished career of 22 years in the Jamaican Civil Service. Moved to Canada in 1967 and before his 1990 retire ment was Recreation Director for Hope and District for 18 years. In his youth Dan was a competi tive soccer player and swimmer, in b.i;. ne became a highly respected summer swim coach and official. The Hope Otters Summer Swim Club began in 1969 and for over 20 years hundreds of youngsters benefitted from Dan's teaching, discipline and philosophy - his wisdom and love for "his kids" will never be forgotten. He couldn't skate but hockey became another of his intense interests and he could share the love of the game with his beloved sons. He was a gentleman and a scholar and we will miss him greatly. fn lieu of flowers the family is setting up a trust fund to create bursaries for students pursuing athleticacademic dreams. Donations would be appreciated to first Heritage Savings Credit Union, Box 1793, Hope, B.C.. VOX 1L0. A memorial service being held at Hope Legion Hall, 2 p.m., Friday, December 15.
