    Winnipeg until marriage in 1931 and probably later
    Graduated from the U of Manitoba in 1924. Took a year of teacher's training. Taught in the Winnipeg schools at Jr. High level - English and some history. Contract voided when she married.

    After her death, Edgar and Kathleen shared equally in the value of the house (with Ruby) but they turned over their share to Ruby. The district had gone downhill and they wanted to sell but Ruby rented it and kept pouring money into it until she finally had to realize the futility of t it.

    moved from home of 26 years in Westfield to Leisure Village in Lakewood NJ after Ray died.
    In Oct 1979 moved to Broadmead, a complete care community, to be closer to Alice, about an hour's drive, non denominational facility run by the Quakers of Stony Run meeting in Baltimore.

Survived by his loving wife, Ethel; daughter and son-in-law Dr. John and Mary Emerson; and grandson, Scott of Victoria; sister, Mrs. K.E. Betts, Maryland, U.S.A.; brother, John A. English, Toronto, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. English, a civil engineer was employed by the CNR. for 35 years and a was a past President of the James Bay New Horizon Society. Memorial service Wednesday, September 3, at 2 p.m. in the First United Church Chapel, Balmoral at Quadra. Reverend Hugh Hunter officiating. Flowers .gratefully declined, friends so desiring may contribute to the James Bay Horizon Society, 234 Menzies St., Victoria, V8V 2G7. Arrangements through the Memorial Society of B.C. and First Memorial Services.
