    Mrs. P. McNeely Dies - 84 Years
    Relatives, friends and neighbours paid final tribute to the memory of Mrs Phoebe Agnes McNeely, well known area resident, at her funeral which took place on Friday May 9, 1969, from the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Ave. west, where the service was held at 2 p.m. with Rev J.J. Murray and Capt. L. Jackson officiating. Interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. Mrs McNeely, who had resided at 4 Victoria St., passed away suddenly at her home on May 6. She was 84 years of age. Born in Ramsay Township, April 23, 1885, the former Phoebe A. Houston, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Houston and his wife, the late Hannah Galbraith. She was a active member of the Zion-Memorial United Church and was a life member of both the Rocky Ridge W.I. and U.C.W. She was the widow of Ernest Howard Turner by first marriage and William James McNeely by second marriage. She is survived by a son Alex H. Turner of Victoria B.C., Deputy Minister of Agriculture, British Columbia; a step-son, Arthur E. McNeely of Carleton Place; a daughter, Mrs Hannah A. McArton of Carleton Place; and a brother, Archie Houston of Winnipeg Man. The Pallbearers were P.R. Leach, E. Foote, E. Hale, W.J. Anderson, G. Cox, and A.E. McNeely.

Sister of Mrs. Ann Bradley, Ottawa, and Mrs. Kathlyn (Effie) Johnson, Arizona. Predeceased by two brothers, Wilmot and Clifford. Also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rested Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, Almonte, thence to Almonte United Church until service Friday at 2:30pm. Rev. Jack Lougheed officiated. Spring interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

    Gladys Kellough
    A lifelong resident of Lanark county, Gladys Cynthia (Paul) Kellough died suddenly on Tuesday evening, February 9 in her 82nd year. She was born at Clayton, the eldest of five children of the late William B. Paul and Cynthia Timmins. Her early years were spent at Clayton before the family moved to Appleton. She attended Carleton Place High School before going to the Ottawa Normal School. After graduation, she taught primary school and married J. Victor Kellough in June of 1926 at St James Anglican Church, Carleton Place. All of her married life was spent at Spruce Hill Farm, RR 4, Almonte. Mrs Kellough was a founding member of the Appleton Homemaker's Club and the Appleton Women's Institute, and her interest lasted until her death. She was both a charter and life member of the Appleton Women's Institute, and at one time was District President of Lanark North. Her keen interest in farm organizations and all things pertaining to the betterment of the farm community led her into the Lanark Cooperative Medical Services, and she acted as its secretary-manager for its entire duration. She also held offices in the Farm Forum and the Federation of Agriculture, and was Director of restoration of the Ramsay Pioneer Methodist Cemetery and director of building for the Doreen Drummond Museum at Appleton and a member of the North Lanark Historical Society. Mrs Kellough took a keen interest in her church and was a member of the Almonte United Church and the UCW. She is survived by her husband, and four daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Jean) King, Cambridge; Mrs. Jack (Florence ) Virgin, Almonte; Mrs. Harold (Cynthia ) Stuart, Simcoe, and Mrs. Ronald (Carol) James, Perth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Ann) Bradley, Ottawa and Mrs. Harry (Effie) Johnson, Arizona. Two brothers, Wilmot and Clifford Paul predeceased her. Visitation was held at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home in Almonte of Feb 11, and the remains were moved to the Almonte United Church to lay in state until the funeral on Feb 12. Rev Jack Lougheed conducted the service assisted by Archdeacon John Salter. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers, Brett James, Colin King, Terry Stuart and Paul, David and Mark Virgin. Interment was at Auld Kirk Cemetery on the 8th Line of Ramsay.
