    The funeral of Joseph Henry Chamney, well-known area resident, was held on Friday, February Anglican Church, Innisville, where the service was conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. Horsey, assisted by Rev. E. D. Fleming, officiating. Interment was In St. John's Cemetery, Innisville. Mr. Chamney, who had resided at 176 Town Line, passed away on February 3, In C.P. & D Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 69 years of age. Born in Scotch Corners on December 31, 1900, he was a son of the late George Chamney and his wife the late Bertha Stanley. He attended St. John's Anglican Church, Innisville and was a member of L.O.L. No. 92, Innisville. He had farmed for many years at Scotch Corners before retiring to Carleton Place a few years ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Horne; three daughters, Mrs. Murray Code (Muriel) of Drummond, Mrs. Robert Ferguson (Ruth) of Scotch Corners an Mrs. Peter Cann (Joie) of New York; a brother John G. Chamney of Carleton Place. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward M. Chamney and a sister Mrs. Robert Laidlaw (Anne). The pallbearers were Messrs. James Gardiner, Clifford Gardiner, Oliver Gardiner, Lloyd Carnahan, Ross Dezell and Alfred Poole.

    The funeral of Mrs Thomas S Shaw, of Pakenham, who died suddenly last Friday, was held from her late residence Sunday afternoon. Rev H A Turner, pastor of St Andrew's United Church, conducted the funeral service, and interment was in the United Cemetery. An active member of the United Church she was keenly interested in all its activities. Among the many floral tributes were offerings from the United Church Board, and Missionary Sewing Circle.
    The late Mrs Shaw was born at Scotch Corners, daughter of the late W M Code and his wife Mary Stanley, and was in her 60th year. Before her marriage she was Eva Jane Code.
    About 37 years ago she married Thomas S Shaw and went to reside in Pakenham. Surviving besides her husband are one son, Borden Shaw, at home, and one daughter, Mrs Frank Du Bois, Larder Lake; four brothers, Fred and Trevor, of Smiths Falls; Matt Code, Clayton, and W M Code, Scotch Corners; two sisters, Mrs Isaac Smith, Arnprior, and Mrs John Tamam, Jasper; and one grandson Donald Hugh Du Bois, Larder Lake.

    The funeral of Joseph Henry Chamney, well-known area resident, was held on Friday, February 4, Anglican Church, Innisville, where the service was conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. Mr. Chamney, who had resided at 176 Town Line, passed away on February 3, In C.P. & D Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 69 years of age. Barker Funeral Home, McArthur Avenue, where the service was conducted in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. K. J. Murray officiating. Interment was in Boyd's United Cemetery. Mr. Cooke, who had resided at 183 High St., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 83 years of age. Born March 15, 1889, in Scotch Corners, he was a son of the late Seeley Cooke and Rebecca Chamney. He spent his entire life time farming, retiring in 1964 and came to Carleton Place with Mrs. Cooke to take up residence on High St. He attended Zion-Memorial United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Frances McIntyre; a daughter, Mary (Mrs. R. John cared deeply about his students, and would always stop to talk to them whenever he encountered them. His best lessons came from his love of everyone he met, and most of all from his actions. John and Jean taught us how to love camping, how to love others, and how to care for others' needs.

While flying at 4,000 feet, the Halifax suddenly began to dive and crashed into the ground one-mile south-west of Blyth Nottinghamshire, England. There were no survivors.
