  1. 1.  Samuel Baird was born on 16 Mar 1835 in Kinburn, Fitzroy Township, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada; died on 7 Mar 1916 in Kinburn, Fitzroy Township, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Kinburn, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada.

    Died:
    The death of Mr. Samuel Baird of Fitzroy, took place Tuesday, March 7, 1916, at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Lorne Craig, while visiting there. Deceased was 81 years of age and was born in Fitzroy. He was an honorable, upright man held in esteem by those who knew him. During the Fenian Raid of 1866-1870 he belonged to the 42nd regiment. He was also a member of L.O.L. No. 57 Kinburn. Deceased will be greatly missed by his former associates who attended the funeral obsequies in large numbers. Bro. Baird is the last of the old veteran members, being 64 years a member of L.O.L.No. 57. He was an honourary member. The Lodge gave a floral wreath to be placed on the casket in loving memory, and another beautiful wreath was given by the family. The late Mr. Baird was married in 1867 to Mary Ann Owens, who died leaving one daughter, Mina, who became the wife of the late T. G. Ross. She with her family reside in Montreal. In 1873, Mr. Baird was again united in Marriage this time to Hannah Farmer, who has been his faithful companion until his death. In religion he was an Anglican. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Thursday, from the residence of Mr. Lorne Craig, to the 9th line Anglican Church, where a very impressive sermon was delivered by the Rev. Franklin Clarke. The remains were then interred in the Cemetery close by. The service of the Orange Order at the grave was conducted by P.D.M. W.A.Ross, assisted by Charles Hunt, Chaplain. The late Mr. Baird leaves a widow, four daughters and five sons, namely, Mrs. Mina Ross, Montreal; Mrs. R.O.Bowes, Mrs. C.A.Crozier, Renfrew; Mrs. Lorne Craig, Kinburn; W.J. & S.E. Baird, Kinburn; R.D., Kassan, Alaska; John A., Ottawa; Allan, Renfrew. He also leaves three sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss. The pallbearers were: R.G.Baird, S.T.Baird, J.F.Baird, Charles Hunt, W.A.Ross and J. R. Cavanaugh.

    George Allan Baird - A resident of Ottawa since 1928, George Allan Baird, of 350 Roosevelt avenue, died in hospital Tuesday in his 66th year. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Baird, Mr. Baird was born and educated at Kinburn, Ont. In 1916 he married the former Annie Camelon, of Westboro. Mr. Baird farmed at Woodlawn, later moving to Ottawa where for 13 years he was employed as a carpenter for the Department of Highways. For the past 11 years he had been employed as a carpenter at the 26th Ordnance Depot. Mr. Baird was a member of Westminster United Church and of the Loyal Orange Lodge, Kinburn. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Kathleen) Tierney, of Ottawa, and three grandchildren. The body is at Tubman's where funeral service will be conducted in the chapel Thursday at 3:30 p.m., Mr. Fred Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.

    TIERNEY, Kathleen (nee Baird) - Peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife of the late John Leonard Tierney. Loving mother of Jim (Lynne) and the late Allan (Shirley) and the late Diane (Don Lennard). Dear grandmother of Tim (Jenny), Sean, Lori (Dave), and Jason (Melanie) and many great- grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents George Allan and Annie (nee Camelon) Baird. Special thanks to the caring staff at Specialty Care Granite Ridge Long Term Care Centre. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd. at Roosevelt on Friday, September 20th from 10 am - 12 noon followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 12 noon. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
