Miss Agnes Paterson, eldest sister of Mr Geo Paterson, of this town, died on Friday last, after a long illness, patiently borne. She had reached the three-score-and-ten allotted to mankind. Always of a quiet and retiring disposition, she was not as well known as many, but those who knew her intimately respected her greatly for her womanly qualities. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, to the eighth line cemetery, and was largely attended. Rev Messrs Mitchell and Watson officiated.

    Mrs Wm Paterson
At the age of 82 years, active and industrious almost to the last, and exhibiting a wonderful vitality, Mrs Wm Paterson of Ramsay, on Monday, passed quietly away to the life beyond, for which she had so earnestly striven and so longingly looked forward to. She was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, on July 14th, 1832, in a house adjoining that of Robert Burns, Scotland's much loved bard, whose wife was a first cousin of Mrs Paterson. She came to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland, where she had lived for some time, in Nov 1855, and was married on Dec 31st, 1857, to Mr Wm Paterson, on the farm "Rose Hill" on which her husband, who is now 84 years of age,and two sons still reside. Here Mr and Mrs Paterson lived to celebrate the 56th anniversary of their marriage on New Year's eve, 1913. The union thus formed, was blessed by a family of ten children. Of these, James B., was killed while running an engine for stamp machine in Mexico, on June 31st, 1904; Geo E., is on the farm; Agnes W., died in infancy; Wm C. is on the farm; Robert M., at Luseland, Sask; Dr T.R., in Almonte; Mary M., and David W. died of scarlet fever in 1878; Hugh died in infancy, and Dr John H. is at Bow Island, Alta. The deceased was one of a family of twelve, eight of whom came to Canada, and of whom George Paterson of Almonte is the only surviving member. The late Mrs Paterson was a Presbyterian in religion, and was a close and consistent follower of her Lord and Master, in whom her fullest trust was reposed. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon to the eighth line cemetery vault, and was one of the largest seen in Ramsay for some time, and was a worthy tribute to a worthy woman. The services were conducted by Rev Mr Merrilees of Blakeney, and the pallbearers were chosen from among the elders of the Clayton and Blakeney Presbyterian congregation.

    Miss Elizabeth Paterson
There passed away, at the residence of her brother-inlaw, Mr Wm. Paterson, "Rose Hill Farm," in Ramsay on Sunday, Elizabeth Paterson, in her 76th year. She had been in failing health for some time, and her death was not unlooked for, and when it came it was to her merely the passing on to a fuller and a brighter life. Miss Paterson was born in Ayrshire Scotland. Her father, the late Matthew Paterson, came to Canada in 1850, the family following a year later, and most of her life in Canada was spent in and around Almonte. There was a family of eight, five sisters and three brothers, all of whom excepting Mr Geo Paterson of Almonte and Mrs Wm. Paterson of Ramsay have passed away, and all at advanced years, except David, who died when 21 years of age. Mrs Borrowman died at 55, Agnes in Almonte at 70 Mrs Fleming of Ottawa at 75, Mrs Wm Paterson has reached 78 years and Mr George Paterson 74, and both enjoy a comfortable degree of health notwithstanding. The funeral of Miss Paterson took place on Tuesday, and was attended by many who as they followed the remains to the cemetery recalled a life of brightness and activity, a kindly disposition. Until recently she lived in Almonte, but since failing health came she had made her home with her sister in Ramsay.

    The Late George Paterson
The funeral of the late Geo. Paterson was held on Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian church and interment was made in the Presbyterian cemetery. The services in the church and at the grave were conducted by Rev S.G. Brown, and were attended by a large number of people who had known and respected Mr Paterson during his lifetime. A pleasing feature of the service was the singing of a most appropriate solo by Miss Maconachie. Upon the lips of many who attended the funeral were heard words of esteem and appreciation. The late Mr Paterson was born in Scotland, and came to Canada over sixty years ago. His father settled on a farm in Ramsay, and he came to Almonte, and clerked for Mr Wylie. Later on he entered business himself and kept a store in a building which stood where Mr. H.H. Cole's stands and afterwards in a building further down Mill street, where he continued business until he sold to Messrs. Conn and West, on account of failing health. It is a question if there was ever a business man in Almonte whose reputation for probity and honesty was as widespread as was his, or whose dealings with the public influenced more people to come here to do their trading. He was for many years an elder in the Presbyterian church, always discharging the duties of that office faithfully and well until failing health prevented a continuance thereof.

George married Mary Agnes Snedden on 17 Sep 1884 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Mary (daughter of James Snedden and Catherine Cochran Snedden) was born on 21 Jul 1858 in Pakenham Township, Lanark County, Canada West; died on 17 Sep 1920 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Killed Instantly
On Friday last a telegram came to Mr R.M. Paterson with the shocking news that his brother, Mr Jas. B. Paterson, had been instantly killed in San Julian, Chihuahua, Mexico, on the 13th of June, by falling into the drive wheel of a stamp mill. These are the meagre details that told the sad story. The delay in getting the word is accounted for by the fact that Mr Paterson was engaged in putting in a mining plant at a place some two hundred miles back in the country the only means of travel to and from being on horseback. The deceased was the eldest of five sons of Mr Wm Paterson, of Ramsay, and was about 44 years of age. When twenty years of age he went to Ottawa and learned the machinist business and afterwards went West, and finally landed in Mexico about sixteen years ago. having possessed himself of a knowledge of mechanical engineering he at once secured lucrative employment at the mines, and it was while engaged at this work that he met his death He was married a few years ago to an American lady in Mexico, who survives him. On receipt of the telegram Mr Paterson at once communicated with the sender, and expects to shortly receive full particulars of the shocking occurrence.

Mr. George E. Paterson, a well-known and respected resident Ramsay Township passed away early Saturday morning in his 77th year, following two months illness of pneumonia. Deceased was a son of the late William Paterson and his wife, Margaret Paterson of Paisley, Scotland, and was born on the farm, 6th concession of Ramsay, Where he died. This farm which had been purchased by the late Mr. Paterson's father would have been 76 years in possession of two generations of the family had he lived a short time longer. In his earlier days Mr. Paterson spent several years in Manitoba and North Dakota, but with that exception, his life was lived on the homestead which he farmed in partnership with his brother William until the latter's death 10 years ago. The late Mr. Paterson never married. He was a fine, substantial citizen and was blessed with a kindly disposition that won him many staunch friends. He was one of a family of ten the only surviving member of which is Dr. T. R. Paterson of Almonte. Other members of the family that predeceased him were: James, who was a veteran of the Northwest Rebellion and was afterwards killed in Mexico where he was engaged in mining operations; William, who farmed in Ramsay; Robert, who was in business as a merchant in Almonte, and afterwards went west, to Saskatchewan, where he died; Dr. John H., who died at Bow Island, Alta.; and Hugh, Mary, David and Agnes who passed away in childhood. William Campbell Paterson
With the death of Mr. William Paterson at the R. M. Hospital on Wednesday, Nov 3, there passed a very well known and respected Ramsay farmer. Born on the Paterson homestead he and his brother, George had farmed there since their boyhood. He was 63 years of age. Mr. Paterson had been ailing for some time, and in the hope of saying his life underwent an operation at the hospital, but there was from the first very little hope of his recovery. In Ramsay, on the 19th inst, Mary M. daughter of Wm Paterson, Esq., Rose Hill, Ramsay, aged 8 years.
When we see a perfect blossom, That we tended with such care, Rudely taken from our bosom, How our aching hearts despair. Round her little grave we linger Till the setting sun is low, Feeling all our hopes have perished With the flower we cherished so. Chorus We shall sleep, but not forever, There will be a glorious dawn, We shall meet to part ? no, never ? On the resurrection morn.

    Dr John H. Paterson
Dr John H. Paterson, of Bow Island, Alta., died on Saturday at Medicine Hat following an operation. An elder brother was with him when he died. The remains were interred with those of his wife at Bow Island. The late Dr. Paterson was a son of the late Mr and Mrs William Paterson, of Ramsay. He was educated at Almonte High School and proceeded to McGill University, where he graduated in medicine about twelve years ago. Immediately after his graduation he went west and settled in Bow Island, in the province of Alberta. He became a very successful practitioner and was recognized as the leading citizen of the place. While he was a student at McGill he underwent an operation for appendicitis, from the effects of which he never fully recovered, although the operation after which he died was performed to remedy a stomach trouble. He lived only a week. He had been passing through Medicine Hat to have a yachting holiday on a cruser on the Pacific coast which he had purchased. His brother, R.M., who was a merchant in Luseland, had hope to be able to join him. Six years ago Dr. Paterson visited his old home here and he had expected to be here again for the Old Boys' Reunion at the end of July. Besides his brother in the west, he is survived by three brothers, W.C. and G.E. are farmers in Ramsay, and Thomas R. is the well known dentist of Almonte. The late Dr. Paterson's wife was a Port Dalhousie girl. She died about two years ago.
