    Peacefully at home following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend of 55 years Beverly (Brydges), his devoted daughter Jo Ann (Jack Donaldson) and two grandsons Christopher and Jonathan of whom he was so proud. He is predeceased by his son Jeffrey Joseph, his parents John and Loretta (Hogan), his sister Mary (late Harry Oikle), his brother Lawrence and his brother Gerald (late Leona). Joe is a cherished brother of Kathleen (late Joe) Carroll, Desmond (late Diane), Leo, Bernard (Sharon), Dorothy (late Ray) Robertson and Raymond (Shirley). He will be dearly missed by the Brydges family and many nieces and nephews in both families. A dedicated husband, father, Poppa & brother, Joe was a true man of the soil. Proudly farming his beloved Tara Hill for over 65 years, he was 6th generation to farm the original Madden land grant of 1840. He persevered in good times and bad, looking back at his accomplishments with pride. Friends may call at the Almonte Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Almonte on Saturday at 11 a.m. If you wish to make a donation in memory of Joe, please consider the Almonte General Hospital or St. Paul's Church.     ?/b?Almonte-Rev. Maurice Egan, parish priest of St. Mary's Church, conducted funeral services here recently for Lawrence Timothy Madden, who was drowned in the Mississippi River.
    Father Egan was assisted by Re. Raymond Burke and Rev. Leo Hickey. Rev. John Devine and Rev. Leo Leahy were also in the sanctuary.
    The pallbearers were Edgar Carroll, Greg Mantill, James Gleeson, Gordon Brydges, Joe Forest and Jimmy Kirkland.
    Mr. Madden leaves his mother, Mrs. John Madden, six brothers, Joseph, Desmond, Gerald, Leo, a twin, Bernard and Raymond, and three sisters, Mary of Ottawa and Kay and Dorothy of Almonte.

    Bernard (Bun) Madden passed away suddenly at his home in Smiths Falls on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the age of 77. Son of the late John Madden and the late Loretta Hogan. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (McLean) Madden. Loving father of Daniel (Marilou) Madden and Tammy (Mark) Boisclair. Devoted Poppa to Nicole and Brock Boisclair and F?lix Madden. Dearly loved brother of Kathleen Carroll (late Joe), Desmond (late Diane), Dorothy Robertson (late Ray) and Raymond (Shirley). Predeceased by his sister Mary (late Harry) Oikle, brothers Joseph (Beverly), Gerald (late Leona), Lawrence and Leo. He will be dearly missed by the McLean family, his many nieces and nephews, as well as the many friends he made at arenas and ball diamonds.     Obituary of Raymond Edward Madden
    Wearing his favourite Irish cap, at home and surrounded by his loving wife and children on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 78. As a family we are incredibly saddened to announce the passing of a quiet, loving, brilliant man. Ray was the loving husband and best friend of Shirley (nee Boal), wonderful father to Sheri Madden (Jeff Day) and Chris Madden (Terri). He was the proud grandfather of Liam and Logan Day and Raeley and Taryn Madden. Ray was born on September 30, 1943 in Almonte and was the youngest of 10 children to Loretta (Hogan) and John Madden. He was a teacher, an athlete, a coach, a businessman and a believer in fairness, equality, learning and teamwork. He had a passion for sports, music, travel, history, education and his family and friends. We will miss everything about him, each and every day. Our family would like to thank the Bayshore nurses and Dr. Kristen Church for their compassionate care and support and the many friends and family who gave us love and support throughout Ray's illness. There will be a visitation taking place at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel on Monday, at 1:00 p.m. Due to current Covid restrictions, the family are asking all those attending must show proof of vaccination, along with government issued photo ID to gain entry to any and all of the events for Ray. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Champions For Kids, Upper Canada District School Board.
