Married in Caledon Township in 1870 to Rebecca Hunter; her date of death and burial location not known. Thomas is noted as being a widower and is living alone in the 1891 census of Albion Township.

Their daughter, Ethel, was living with her father and his parents in 1871 and 1881 Albion, while Rebecca, noted as married, was living in Caledon Township with a Beatty family in 1871; not located in 1881.

TOM KIDD DEAD
On Friday afternoon all that was mortal of Thomas Kidd was laid to rest in St. John's cemetery, 7th Line, Mono. Tom Kidd was a well-known man in these parts for many years. He was a son of the late John Kidd, the old man who married Gertie Robbins over a decade ago. Tom Kidd was a very eccentric character and a couple of years ago he was adjudged insane and was sent to the Mimico asylum. While there he was a quiet patient. He imagined he was the owner of the asylum and all the other big buildings in sight and took great delight in showing visitors about his property. An only daughter died a few years ago.

Thomas married Rebecca Hunter in 1870 in Caledon Township, Peel County, Ontario, Canada. Rebecca and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

After their marriage, they settled in Tosorontio Township on Lot 23; Concession 1.
About 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Kidd retired from the farm and took up residence in Everett.

With the passing of John Kidd, who died at his home in Everett a couple of weeks ago, one of the original settlers in the township
of Tosorontio is removed.
Mr. Kidd is probably the last of the old guard. There may remain some who knew and associated with these original pioneers half a century ago, but so far as known the original incomers have all passed away.
Mr. Kidd was born at Mono Mills and spent his boyhood and youth there. When about 24 years of age he and his brothers, Joseph, Henry, and, Thomas made their way up to what is now Airlie and finding the land there excellent, and an abundance of water, they decided to locate, and took out their patent rights to Lot 22 and 23 on the Tosorontio side and Lots 22 and 23 in Mulmur side. They were in a wilderness, their nearest neighbors being on the 6th line of Mulmur near Mansfield. On their property is the famed Rookery Creek where wild pigeons came in countless thousands to nest. Here the deceased put in nearly half a century overcoming all the handicaps of pioneering, transforming forest lots into a splendid farm, raising a large family and prospering.
He was a sturdy type of man possessing all the characteristics of mind and the tireless energy of the successful pioneer to whom this country owes a great debt.
He was an Anglican in religion and a Conservative in politics.

To our lot falls the painful duty this week of recording the death of one of Mono Mills oldest and most respected citizens, Mr. Henry Kidd, who passed away at his residence on Saturday morning last at the age of 54 years. Mr. Kidd's demise was a very sudden and unexpected one, and was the result of a severe cold contracted a week previous, which developed into inflammation of the lungs. Deceased was universally popular, was a staunch member of the Church of England, a Conservative in politics, and a genial, whole-souled gentleman in every respect. He leaves a wife and large family. The interment took place to the Church of England cemetery on Monday, nearly one hundred rigs comprising the cortege. Revs. Watt and Orr were the officiating clergymen. And this is the last of poor Henry Kidd ! May he rest in peace !
