    Mrs James Snedden
Some time ago Mrs James Snedden of this town, took a severe attack of whooping-cough, which was epidemic at that time, and though she recovered from it she was left in poorer health than was her wont. A few weeks ago a stomach trouble developed and in spite of all the care and medical skill that could be lavished upon her she grew worse by degrees until last Friday, when death ensued. The sad outcome created deep and widespread sorrow, as deceased was known and respected by a very large circle of friends. Mrs Snedden was of a retiring disposition, but those who had the privilege of her acquaintance were charmed with her manner and the graces that adorned her life. Mrs Snedden was born in Glasgow 66 years ago. Over forty years ago, while on a visit to Canada, she formed the acquaintance of Mr. Snedden, who a few years after married her at her home in Scotland. Two children were born to them ? Mrs George Patterson, of this town, and Miss Tillie, at home. That the mourning ones have the full sympathy of their friends was shown by the very large attendance at the funeral on Monday, in spite of the severe weather. A short service was held at the house, conducted by Rev. R.J. Hutcheon, M.A., pastor of St. Andrew's congregation (of which deceased was a consistent member), after which the remains were interred in the eighth line cemetery.

Catherine married James Snedden in 1856 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. James (son of Alexander Snedden and Mary Whyte) was born on 21 Apr 1831 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Canada West; died on 22 Oct 1917 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 24 Oct 1917 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. The Late Mrs David Snedden
We regret very much to have to chronicle the death, on Saturday, of Mrs David Snedden, of the 9th line Ramsay, at the comparatively early age of 56 years. The deceased's maiden name was Mary Snedden. She was born in Glasgow, where she spent the early years of her life. Her whole married life, which was that of a very happy Christian, was spent on her husband's present farm near Rosebank. The late Mrs Snedden leaves behind her a sorrowing husband, one son and one daughter, who feel very keenly the loss of a faithful wife and a loving mother. Mrs Snedden will be much missed in the neighbourhood of Rosebank, where she has long been noted for her kindness and practical help to the sick and the afflicted. Many a home among neighbours will miss her ministering services in the hour of sorrow or trouble. This is the second blank in Mr. Snedden's family during the past few years, His youngest son David, having died a year of two ago as the result of a fall from a horse. The disease of which Mrs Snedden died was cancer, from which she suffered for a considerable time. The deceased was a sister of Mrs James Snedden, of this town. The funeral on Monday last was a very large one. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. McLean, the late Mrs Snedden's pastor, assisted by her former pastor, Rev Mr. Knowles, of Alice, and Rev Mr. Grant, of Almonte. The Sons of Scotland attended the funeral in a body. We tender our deepest sympathy to the bereaved husband and family.

Mary married David Snedden on 7 Jun 1860 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. David (son of Alexander Snedden and Mary Whyte) was born on 20 Oct 1837 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 27 Apr 1919 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Serious Accident
We regret to have to report an unfortunate accident met with by David T. Snedden (son of Mr David Snedden, near Blakeney) on Friday last. He was riding home from the store of Mr Jas McDougall, Blakeney, with a parcel of nails. The horse was somewhat restless, and threw him. He was not hurt, and remounted, but when going down the hill at Mr Peter McDougall's the parcel dropped from his hand and frightened the horse, and he was again thrown. This time he fell heavily on his side against some boards and was very seriously injured. He was found there by Mrs McDougall, who quickly secured help, and he was conveyed to Mr McDougall's house, where he now lies. We trust the accident will not prove fatal, although we regret to say that but slight hopes of his recovery are entertained. He has been vomiting blood freely, and suffering acute pain. The unfortunate young man is well known in this town having been a clerk in Mr Hobblewhite's store for several years, and is popular with all who know him.
    LATER ?
The young life went out to its Maker to-day (Thursday) at 12:30 a.m. The sad news will cause a profound feeling of sorrow among those acquainted with the circumstances, and the mourning ones will have whatever solace there be for such a loss in the sympathy of the whole community. It is a severe blow to the parents. Deceased was their eldest son, was but 22 years of age, and was fully fitted for the active duties of the calling he had chosen. He had just completed a course in a commercial college. Although of a retiring disposition, his exemplary conduct and geniality made for him many warm friends. The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon.
