    ?/b?Passes Suddenly
Was Engaged Installing A Refrigeration Plant When Fatally Stricken. Many friends and acquaintances of Mr H. Lorne McGill were shocked on Wednesday to learn that he had died suddenly in the Rosamond Memorial Hospital Tuesday night, a few hours after he had been admitted suffering from a heart attack. He came from the Coast a few weeks ago and was engaged installing a refrigeration plant in the former West store property recently acquired by a Lanark County farmers' syndicate. Born In Ramsay, Mr McGill was 52 years of age and was born in Ramsay, a son of the late Thomas McGill and his wife Sarah Connery. While he was still in his teens the family moved to the Pacific Coast and he worked with his father in the carpentry and contracting business. Twenty-seven years ago he returned to this district and married Miss Mayme Stewart, daughter of Mrs Jno Stewart of Ramsay and the late Mr Stewart. For about ten years he made extensive installations of Delco lighting systems throughout the rural parts of Lanark County. He also built the business block on Mill Street, Almonte, at present occupied by the Superior Confectionary, barber shop and apartments. Later, he went to Hawkesbury where he spent several years as an employee of lumbering interests, after which he returned to the Coast.

    Purchases Plant
When a number of Lanark County farmers decided to get together and establish a refrigeration plant in this section some months ago, arrangement were made to secure the Wesley West store property. They got in touch with Mr McGill, in British Columbia, and asked him to look up suitable refrigeration equipment and undertake the work of bringing it here and installing it. This he did, buying a plant from the Hudson Bay Company at Calgary. The machinery arrived some weeks ago and Mr McGill began the work of installation. It was while engaged in these activities that he was fatally stricken with a heart ailment from which he had been suffering for some time.

    Sons In Armed Services
He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, the former Miss Mayme Stewart at Vancouver, B.C.; two sons, Stewart of the R.C.A.F., Calgary and Hugh of Halifax, N.S. now at sea with the Royal Canadian Navy. The funeral was held this afternoon from the Comba Funeral Home to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev A.J. Fowlie of the Almonte Presbyterian Church, officiating. The pallbearers were his brother-in-law, Mr Duncan Stewart of Appleton, and five cousins, Messrs John McGill, Thomas McGill, John Syme, Peter Syme and Albert Syme.

Mary (daughter of John Stewart and Hughena Roberts) was born on 11 Feb 1892 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 12 May 1960 in Campbell River, Strathcona Regional District, British Columbia, Canada; was cremated in 1960 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
