    A highly respected resident of Ramsay, Mrs William Armstrong. passed away at her home on the 10th line on Monday, August 31st, at the age of 82 years. About two years ago she suffered a stroke and since that time her health had been seriously impaired. Mrs Armstrong's maiden name was Elizabeth McCann, second daughter of the late James McCann and Mary Kemp, and all her life was spent in this community, where she was beloved by all. Fifty-four years ago she was married to William Armstrong who survives. To this union were born four daughters and one son, three of whom survive, namely, Mary, Mrs Wesley McCann, Pakenham; Jessie at home, William James of Brockville. Two daughters Margaret, Mrs Andrew Kirk and Rebecca, Mrs Andrew McPhail predeceased her. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs W. Allison, Winnipeg, Man. Prior to church union Mrs Armstrong was a Presbyterian and since that time she was a member of the United Church at Blakeney. The funeral which was largely attended was held on Wednesday, Sept 2nd at 2.30 p.m. from the family residence, Rev G.D. Empy, officiating. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs Robert McPhail, William Smithson, William Voyce, Peter McDougall, Gordon Sadler and Edward Armstrong.

    Obituary: Mrs. Andrew Kirk
    Final tribute to the memory of Mrs Andrew Kirk was paid by her many friends at the funeral which was held on Sunday afternoon from her late residence, corner of Martin and Edward Streets, to St. John's Presbyterian Church and Auld Kirk cemetery for burial. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor Rev A.J. Fowlie and favourite hymns of the deceased were sung by the choir. The pallbearers were Messrs George Arnott, William Templeman, Lloyd Watson, Jack Gilmour, George Lowry and Alie Stewart. The many floral tributes showed the high esteem in which she was held.
    Although she was in poor health for the past year her death at her home last Thursday morning came as a great shock to her many friends.
    She was a devoted member of of the choir and Ladies' Aid Society of the Presbyterian Church and she will be greatly missed by these organizations.
    Born in Ramsay, 49 years ago, she was the second daughter of Mr and Mrs William Armstrong. She married Andrew Kirk, 23 years ago, and since then has made her home in Almonte. Left to mourn besides her husband and son Melville, are her parents, two sisters, Mrs Wesley McCann of Pakenham and Miss Jessie Armstrong at home and one brother, James of Brockville.

    The many friends of Mrs Andrew McPhail were shocked to learn that she had passed away on Thursday morning after an illness extending over only a few days, from erysipelas which developed into blood poisoning. Deceased, who was only in her 24th year, was formerly Rebecca Jane Armstrong, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Armstrong, and she had by her kind and lovable disposition won the admiration of those who knew her. Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, three sisters and one brother. to whom is extended the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends on their sad bereavement, The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock to the eighth line cemetery and a lengthy cortege accompanied by remains to their last resting place. Rev D.M. McLeod conducted the service at the home and at the grave.

    The death occured in a Brockville hospital on Friday, May 8th., of William James Armstrong, ages 61 years. The funeral was held on Sunday, May 10th, from the Scott Funeral Home, Elgin Street, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev H.C. Wofram. The late Mr. Armstrong was a native of Ramsay, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.Wm. Armstrong. He is survived by two sisters, Mary (Mrs Wesley McCann), Pakenham; Jessie (Mrs. W.C. Smithson), Almonte. He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret (Mrs Andrew Kirk) and Rebecca (Mrs Andrew McPhail).

    In his 85th year, Gordon Stuart "Stu" Sadler left this life peacefully on November 9th, 2021 while in residence at Granite Ridge Care Community (LTC) following a brutal 4 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his devoted wife and dance partner of 63 years, MaryAnn (Horton) and his daughter, Susan, and son, Tom. "Poppy" will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Steve, Laura, Alicia, and Joe, as well as his great-grandchildren, Rogelio, Nevaeh, "Angel" Atreyu, Kenji, Jiraiya, Tanian (his little man), Mackenzie, and Skylar. Stuart was born in Pakenham, Ontario and was the youngest son of Gordon Henry and Myrtle (McCann) Sadler (predeceased) and brother to Earl (Patricia), Arthur (Phyllis), and Muriel (George Currie).

    A hardworking and generous man, Stuart earned respect and success in many areas of his life including (Stationery) business and real estate ownership and management. Although this afforded him and his family the opportunity for travel, friends would attest to his passion for the outdoors including golfing, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Any and all who knew him would further agree that he found much enjoyment at his cherished place at the cottage he built over 55 years ago at Tatlock, Ontario.

    A private Funeral Mass is to be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 134 Bridge St, Almonte, ON on Thursday, November 18th at 11 am, with burial at St.Mary's Cemetery to follow. Pursuant to vaccinated attendance regulations, at the request of the parish and family, attendance will be restricted to fully vaccinated guests only. All guests must supply proof of double vaccination and a mask to enter the parish church facility. The Funeral Mass will be recorded and available for viewing on the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home web-site as soon as possible after the Mass.

    All friends and family are warmly invited to attend a Reception at the Almonte Civitan Hall, 500 Almonte Street, between 12:30 and 3:30 pm on November 18th.

    An Open house to celebrate the life of, and to share stories of Stuart, will be hosted by his children at 116 McGregor Street, Carleton Place, after 5 pm, the same day/evening. For those who wish, donations to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, or, The University of Ottawa Heart Institute would be very appreciated. The Sadler Family sends sincere thanks and appreciation for the care provided by nurses and staff at Granite Ridge Care Community and the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
