From "A Kerfoot History" is the following, probably from the "Christian Guardian":
William Kerfoot was born in Coolcullen, County of Kilkenny, Ireland May 14, 1816, came to Canada in the year 1819, and settled in the Township of Beckwith, Ontario. He was converted to God in the summer of 1832, under the ministry of Rev J H Huston. The work was genuine, as his after life showed. He immediately united with the Wesleyan Methodist Church and continued a member to his death (fifty-one years) and he was a class leader in the church of his choice eighteen years. He was married to Miss Mary Brownlee of Goulbourn on May 6, 1841, and settled in the Township of Montague near Merrickville. His wife died January 16, 1869, and left him with twelve children to mourn her loss. In the spring of 1870 he moved to Warwick with eight children, the other four being settled. The twelve children are still living and all members of the Church. A few months before his death he sold his farm and built for himself a comfortable house in the Village of Watford where he intended to finish his days in retirement, but he passed away to his rest after a few weeks' illness on the 3rd of April, 1883 and was interred on the 5th, in the Warwick Cemetery. A memorial sermon was preached in the Church in which he was wont to worship by Rev T S Howard to a vast concourse of sympathetic friends. He was one of the pillars of the Church, and died as he lived, peaceful and happy.

William married Mary Brownlee on 6 May 1841 in Goulbourn Township, Carleton County, Canada West. Mary was born on 15 May 1823 in Carleton, Carleton County, New Brunswick, Canada; died on 16 Jan 1869 in Ontario, Canada; was buried in 1869 in Shillington Cemetery, Munster, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada. John S. Kerfoot
An old time resident of Minesing passed from the scene on Thurs. Feb.25th, in the person of JohnS. Kerfoot, at the age of 63. He had been ailing for some time.
The late Mr. Kerfoot was born in 1846 in Montagu Township, County of lanark, and went to Minesing as a young man. He followed farming practically all his life, retiring from business only about a year ago. For a number of years he sat in Vespra Council and always took a keen interest in local affairs. he was active in Methodist Church circles and in Sunday School work, in which spheres of duty his death will create a void not easily filled. In politics he was a consistent Liberal.
The funeral on Sat. afternoon to Minesing church and cemetery was one of the largest seen in that community. The sacred edifice was crowded to the doors. Rev. Mr. Legate conducting an impressive service.
Mr. Kerfoot was married in early life to Miss Lydia Scott, who with 2 sons, F. Austin kerfoot, Minesing & Dr. K.W. Kerfoot, Bishop Mills, survive.

He was married October 20, 1891 at Detroit to Bertha Adele Whitney, who was born March 4, 1872 at Detroit. Bertha is a daughter of James Jardine and Adelaide Lucretia Harnden. She was apparently adopted by Gustavus Adolphus Whitney, the third husband of her mother, hence the Whitney surname.
Bertha was married second May 24, 1897 at Detroit to Halda Alonzo Irish, who was born April 30, 1870 at Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan, son of George Willard Irish and Saphronia A Lick. They apparently divorced. Halda was with an oil company in Texas when he applied for a passport to Mexico April 22, 1921 at Beaumont, Texas.
Bertha was married third April 15, 1919 in Orange County, Florida to Thatcher Ryder Carlton Crowell, a widower who was born December 19, 1861 at Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, son of Daniel H Crowell and Mary F ___. He was married first to Elizabeth R McInnis. Bertha and Thatcher lived in Orange, Hardee and Desoto Counties, Florida. Thatcher died 1944 and Bertha March 8, 1954, both in Orange County. Bertha and Thatcher are buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia, Desoto County, Florida.

Richard married Bertha Adele Whitney in 1891. Bertha was born on 4 Mar 1872 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, United States; died on 8 Mar 1954 in Orange County, California, United States; was buried in 1954 in Arcadia, Desoto County, Florida, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

The interment of the infant children of Mr. & Mrs. W. Cook & Mr. & Mrs. H. Kerfoot took place Monday evening in the Minesing Cemetery. The bereaved parents have the deepest sympathy of the community.
