Obituary Mrs W.A. Metcalfe
The funeral was held Monday, Feb 15th of Mary Warren, beloved wife of Mr W.A. (Barney) Metcalfe, who died in the Rosamond Memorial Hospital here following a lengthy illness. She was in her 57th year at time of his death. Born in Batley, Yorkshire, England, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Robert Warren, she came to Canada in 1912 and received her education in the Almonte schools. In November of 1924 she married W.A. Metcalfe of Almonte and has resided here ever since. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters and one son, namely, Beth (Mrs Lloyd Woods) of Ottawa; Reta and James of Almonte. Four grandchildren also survive. Three sisters and two brothers also survive, Jennifer, (Mrs Thos Atkinson), Toronto; Edith, (Mrs Winnard G. Murray), Ottawa; Margaret, (Mrs J. Reeves), of Windsor; Edward of California and George of Almonte. Rev J. Ray Anderson conducted the funeral which was held from the Comba Funeral Home with interment in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Mrs Metcalfe was a quiet reserved woman who was fond of her family and friends but took little part in the activities of various community organizations.

Mary married William Arnold "Barney" Metcalfe in Nov 1924. William (son of Henry Metcalfe and Elizabeth Reilly) was born on 21 Jun 1900 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 7 Mar 1977 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 9 Mar 1977 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
