    Of Ottawa, at the Riverside Hospital, John Sydney Barclay in his 81st year. On Monday, April 14, 1997 after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of Ruth Horner and loving father of Elizabeth Lorraine Barclay. Son of the late David & Elizabeth Barclay. Survived by his sister Margaret of Hamilton, brother Raeburn (Betty) of Burlington and sister-in-law Dolores (widow of Harold) of Hamilton. Predeceased by his brother Harold and sister Alice (Mrs. George Robinson. Also survived by nephew Don Robinson and nieces Cheryl Robinson and Ann, Heather, Pat, Diane, Linda and Susan Barclay and nephews Wayne and Marshall Horner. Syd was a 25 year veteran of the RCAF (1941 -1966) and retired from the Federal Public Service in 1978. Syd is resting at Hayes & Son Funeral Home Shawville, Quebec. Funeral service will be held in the chapel with Rev. James Payton officiating at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery, Shawville, Quebec. Syd will be sadly missed by all his family.

    John married Ruth Margaret Ida Horner on 15 Nov 1947 in Ottawa, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada. Ruth (daughter of James Duncan Horner and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hodgins) was born in 1918 in Clarendon Township, Pontiac County, Quebec, Canada; died on 1 Jun 2001 in Ottawa, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada.
