    Garnet Hand Passes Suddenly. Garnet Cecil Hand, highly esteemed, cummunity minded resident of Perdue, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 25, 1972 at the age of 56 years. Mr. Hand was born at Leney Sept 3, 1915 and had lived in the area all his life residing in Perdue since 1951. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 75 AF and AM and was Past Master of Harmony Masonic Lodge during 1957-58 and elected to the Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan in 1971. He was also a member of the Melody Chapter of the Eastern Star. Garnett was a member of the National Farmers Union, a member of the Perdue Board of Trade and represented the Village of Purdue on the Biggar Union Hospital Board. He was a director of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool at Feudal and bought grain at Feudal for 13 years and one year at Perdue. He was manager of the Perdue Harris Co-op from 1947 until 1951 and had farmed since that time. Keenly interested in sposrts, Mr. Hand had coached baseball and hockey for many years and had been the umpire for the Brier Playdowns and Perdue Curling Club drawmaster for several years. He was an ardent curler. Predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Hand of Leney; a brother, Kenneth of Star City and one sister, Mrs. C. (Hattie) Featherstone of Feudal. Surviving are his wife Nellie of Purdue; son Gordon of Saskatoon; daughters, Mrs. Keith (Reita) Palmer of Saskatoon; Miss Glenda of Saskatoon and Miss Cheryl of Perdue; and two grandchildren Kim Palmer and Heather Hand, both of Saskatoon; brothers: Percy and Emerson of Perdue; Ruglass of Bjorkdale; Albert of Flin Flon; Selwyn of Biggar; sister, Mrs. L. (Marjorie) Cathcart of Perdue. Funeral service was held Monday, May 29 from the Perdue Legion Hall with Mr. Stewart McPartlin officiating. Perdue Harmony Lodge No. 75 AF and AM and Melody Chapter No. 133 of Perdue attended the service in assembly. Honorary pallbearers were A. Vetzal, A. Campbell, R. Tyson, W. McTurk, C. Ross and C. Sapsford. Pallbearers were K. Young, S. Howard, I. Cathcart, R. Keller, E. Holtet and K, Bunn. Ushers were R. Wilkinson and R. Harper. Harmony Lodge No, 75 AF and AM held a graveside service conducted by Past Master Jock Mair. Interment took place in Leney Cemetery with Biggar Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Ellen was born in 1917 in Perdue, Battleford Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 3 Nov 2006 in Saskatoon, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Leney Cemetery, Leney, Battleford Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
