    Mrs David Metcalfe
    Mrs David Metcalfe passed away on Wednesday, June 14, at her home in Ramsay after a long illness. Her maiden name was Sarah J. Rea and she was born in Ramsay 59 years ago. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Miss Gertrude M. Metcalfe, of the Civil Service, Ottawa. She leaves to mourn her loss two sisters: Elizabeth (Mrs John L. Paul) of Carleton Place; and Emma (Mrs W.H. Robertson) of Ramsay; and five brothers: George Rea, of Westboro; Joseph W. Rea, of Kincardine, Ont; Wm B. Rea of Dauphin, Man; James H. Rea, of Grand Forks, N.D. and Wesley H. Rea, of Ramsay, Elijah and John are dead. The funeral service which was conducted by Rev J.D. McCrea, her minister, was very impressive. It was attended by a very large concourse of mourners although the weather was wet and the roads heavy. The scene at the beautifully situated Metcalfe home was a notable one. The spacious yard and the long roadway leading to the eminence on which the house is situated, and which commands a magnificent view of the surrounding country were blocked with motor cars and other vehicles and when the long procession wended its way along the beautiful eighth line the occasion was one long to be remembered. On both sides of the house there are many relatives and while very many of these were present there was also a very large representation of neighbours and friends who came to pay their last respects to the much beloved lady. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: M r Joseph N Rea, Kincardine; Mr and Mrs Geo Rea, Westboro; Mrs Jas Smith, Pembroke; Mr and Mrs Jas Metcalfe, Beachburg; Mr Wm Metcalfe, Beachburg; Mr Jas Gilmour, Cobden; Mr and Mrs Robt Metcalfe, Pakenham; Mrs Jas Metcalfe, Ottawa, and Miss K. McNabb. The pallbearers were: Messrs John, Hugh, Alex and Wm Metcalfe, Wm J. Rea and W.H. Robertson.

    Mrs W.H. Robertson
    Final tribute was paid to the memory of Mrs William H. Robertson by a large number of relatives and friends who attended her funeral on Tuesday, Dec 30, at the home of her son, Mr Harold R. Robertson, 10th concession of Ramsay Township. Rev H.C. Wolfraim of Almonte United Church officiated and interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Mrs Robertson passed away at Carleton Place on Sunday, Dec 28th, in her 81st year. Deceased was born on the 9th line of Ramsay, a daughter of the late Joseph Rea and his wife, Margaret Code. She received her education in the public school in the district and Almonte High School. Fifty-eight years ago she married William H. Robertson and they farmed in the township latterly on the 11th line. Mr Robertson died in 1933. For the past 16 years, Mrs Robertson resided in Carleton Place and Almonte. Surviving are two sons, Harold of Ramsay and Arthur of Guelph. Two other sons, Bert and Russell, predeceased her several years ago. Of her immediate family she leaves one brother, Wesley Rea of Carleton Place and one sister, Elizabeth, Mrs J. Paul of Toronto. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which Mrs Robertson was held. The pallbearers were: Messrs D.W. Stewart, Alex Stewart, Cecil Turner, W.T. James, Victor Kellough and Wm Neilson.

    Those Who Have Passed On
    Mr Wesley Rea
    The funeral of Wesley Rea took place on Friday afternoon from Fleming Bros Funeral Home, Carleton Place, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, for interment. Rev D.C. Munro officiated at the service. Mr Rea died at his home on January 13th as a result of a heart seizure. He was born on April 2nd, 1874, in Ramsay Township, son of the late Joseph Rea and his wife, Margaret Code. He was a farmer all his life an all his active years were spent on the family homestead on the 9th line of Ramsay Township. He was married to the former Miss Isa Hilborne, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Hilborne also of Ramsay Township. They were member of Trinity United Church in Almonte. About five years ago, Mr Rea sold his farm to Mr Geo Wylie and Mr and Mrs Rea moved to Carleton Place. Mrs Rea died on Dec 19, 1950. In Carleton Place, Mr Rea attended Memorial Park United Church. Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Howard, of Renfrew, and Melvin, of Almonte; Evelyn Rea of Carleton Place and Mrs H. Holland of Toronto; also a sister, Mrs E. Paul of Toronto, and two grandchildren. The pallbearers were H. Rea, H. Robertson, E. Robertson, J Brydges, L. Watson, Almonte; A. Matthews

    peaceful passing on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Rose Villa, Rosetown, Sask. Cherishing her memories are: Barb Slocombe (Ron Hay), Byron & Muriel Hill, Val & Don Rawson, Cal & Janice Hill, Carol & Andy McKechnie, Vera & Jim Sweet; Mike & Joanne Hill; as well as her 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law Earl & Nancy Bowman; Howard's extended family and numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Howard; her parents Art & Elsie Bowman; her brother and sister-in-law Ralph & Muriel Bowman; her son-in-law David Slocombe; and great-grandson Chase Cordes. Mom was a hard working farm wife raising seven children with no modern facilities till after her children were born. She spent time baking bread, cookies, cakes, etc., cooking, cleaning and gardening as well as milking cows and helping out with the farm. She was a loyal Life Member of the Rosetown Royal Purple Lodge. She will be missed by all of her family and many dear friends.

    Elsie married Howard Stanley Hill in 1946. Howard was born on 3 Apr 1924 in Chilliwack Cemeteries, Chilliwack, Fraser Valley Regional District, British Columbia, Canada; died on 5 Jul 1987 in Saskatoon, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Rosetown Cemetery, Rosetown, Battleford Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
