- Gertrude "Trudy" Caron, age 80, of Faribault, died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. from the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Sacred Heart in Faribault, with Fr. Michael Izen, associate pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Gertrude Mildred Awe, the daughter of Emil and Amy (James) Awe, was born on Aug. 7, 1925, in Loretto, Minn., and graduated from Elk River High School. She was a teacher at a country school in Cannon City Township, Rice County, for three years before her marriage to Ferdinand Caron on Feb. 9, 1948, at the Sacred Heart Church in Faribault. She farmed with her husband in Cannon City Township before she graduated from Mankato State University in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in special education. She was a teacher at the State Schools for mentally impaired for three years and Faribault Public Schools for nine years. Ferdinand preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1985. Trudy loved to paint, sing in the church choir, and traveled throughout the world. She also started up a Catholic singles group following her husband's death. She is survived by four children, Kathy Moes of Farmington, Gary Caron of Faribault, Michele (and David) Holmblad of Faribault, and Debbie (and Maurice) Jorgenson of Bolchow, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jessie Stam (and Peter Brinkman), John Christopher Moes, E7, Justin Stam, Lt. Patrick Nathaniel Moes, Randy (and Amy) Caron, Andrew Caron, Nathan Caron, and Brent Jorgenson; great-grandson, Hunter Brinkman; sister, Marlene (and Al) Edin of Ham Lake; brother-in-law, Carl Bauer of Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Mavis Caron and Geraldine Caron, both of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Matthew Caron; and sister, Harriet Bauer.
Gertrude married Ferdinand Francis "Ferd" Caron on 9 Feb 1948. Ferdinand was born on 5 Nov 1918 in Rice County, Minnesota, United States; died on 13 Jan 1985 in Hidalgo, Rice County, Minnesota, United States; was buried in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota, United States.
