MRS. SARA 1. GARLAND. Attended by many friends and relative, the funeral of Mra. Sara Jant Garland, for over 50 year a resident of tha Capital, who died on Monday, was held yesterday at 1.30 p.m. from tha home of her son, L. Austyn Garland, 622 Gladstone avenue, to Erskine Presbyterian church. Tha service was conducted by Rev. Robert Good, and interment took place In Beechwood cemetery. During the service at the church a vocal solo was rendered by Kenneth Cochrane.
Mrs. Garland, who died in her 82nd year after an Illness of a few daya, was formerly Sara Jane Johnson, a dauthter of tha late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson. Her husband, John Garland, predeceased her.
One of the best known members of Ersklne church, Mrs. Garland was active In church work and especially In the Ladles' Aid and the W.C.T.U. for many years until her falling health forced her to give up active interest.
Chief mourners and survivors were two sons. Herbert J., and L. Austyn Garland, of Ottawa; one daughter. Miss Elinor C. Garland of the public school staff at Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and a grandson, Herbert L. Garland, Ottawa. Pallbearers were Thomas Stinson, Robert Cochrane, Mr. Trappier, W. C. Allen, C. Johnson and Bert Johnson.
Numerous floral offerings were received including pieces from the staff, of the Hull West station. Ersklne
