    Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary for Mary Mabel Shippey, 88, of Salem, who died Monday.

    Interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

    She was born in Lawrence, Kan., and moved to Stayton in 1950 from Tabor, Iowa, and to Salem in 1956. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

    Survivors include her husband, Melvin W.; sons, Marvin M., Salem, Gerald A., Salem, Dallas D., Salem and Merlin N., Sanger, Texas; and daughter, Donnah L. Shippey, Albuquerque, N.M.

    Contributions may be made to the Mabel Shippey Memorial Fund at the church.

    Mary married Mervin William Shippey in 1917. Mervin (son of William Rufus Shippey and Viola Carrie Andrews) was born on 18 Mar 1897 in Malvern, Mills County, Iowa, United States; died on 7 Feb 1987 in Salem, Marion County, Oregon, United states; was buried in Restlawn, Memory Gardens, West Salem, Polk County, Oregon, United States.     SALEM ? Marvin M. Shippey, Sr. was born July 22, 1919 in Henderson, Iowa and passed away in Salem on January 14, 2005.

    Married to D. Fern Shippey for 64 years. Survivors: wife, Fern; daughter Jane Umphress; sons Gary, Marvin Jr., Allan, Steven and Tim all of Salem. Brothers; Jerry A. Shippey of Salem, and Merlin Shippey of Sanger, Texas and sister Donnah Shippey of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Preceding his death was brother Dallas Shippey of Salem. 43 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren.

    His family and friends will remember Marvin for his kindness and love for family. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church at his passing of 30 years.

    A Memorial Service will be held at the First Nazarene Church in Salem, 1550 Market Street, N.E. at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2005. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Nazarene Church to be given to Mrs. Marvin Shippey, Sr.
