HOUSTON, Gordon Hazen (Veteran WW II, R.C.A.F.)
Suddenly in hospital at Almonte on Tuesday, November 26, 1996. Gordon H. Houston of Almonte. Dearly loved husband of Ruth Barr. Beloved father of Norma Quinn (Dan) of Cobden; Robert (Jennifer) and Don both of Almonte. Brother of Douglas of Carp. Loved grandpa of Krista, Danny and Tim Quinn. Friends called at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte. Service was held in the Chapel on Thursday. Rev Ted Colwell officiated. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Gordon Houston
Gordon Hazen Houston died Nov 26 in the Almonte General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Almonte to the late Harry Houston and the late Jenny Illingworth, both of Almonte. He attended school in Almonte and then went on to Tabers Business College. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a wireless air gunner. He married Ruth Norma Barr Sept 7, 1946 in Almonte. After the war, he worked at the Department of National Defence, retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 240, the Mississippi Lodge AF and AM and the Maple Granite Royal Arch Chapter. Mr Houston is survived by his wife Ruth, sons Robert and Donald, of Almonte, his daughter Norma Quinn of Cobden, his brother Douglas (Buddy) of Carp and his grandchildren Krista, Danny and Tim Quinn. He was predeceased by his brother Donald. Rev Ted Colwell led the funeral service at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home Chapel Nov 28. Burial is at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were grandsons Danny and Tim Quinn and nephews Bruce, Roger, Reggie and Ken Barr.
Gordon married Ruth Norma Barr in 1946. Ruth was born in 1923; died on 4 Jan 2009 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
