    Laura Essie Wilson was a 25-yr-old teacher when she married 38-yr-old William Allan Scott of Pakenham Tp, Lanark Co. She was the daughter of Thomas Young Wilson and his wife Mary Wesley Lowrie of Fitzroy Tp, Carleton, Co., Ont. Their only two sons were killed tragically in WW2:- F.Sgt. (Flight Engineer) Donald Stewart Scott was lost at sea in the area of the Faroe Islands when the Canso aircraft he was in was shot down by a German U-boat and the 8-man crew had to share the only surviving 4-man inflatable raft for over 20 hours. Donald died during the ordeal several hours before the survivors were rescued. The younger son, Kenneth, was a Leading Aircraftsman acting as a dropper on board a Dakota transport which was taking supplies to the British Army in Burma 12 January 1945. It was shot down by a Japanese fighter and Kenneth's final resting place is in the Taukkyan War Cemetery in Myanmar (Burma).

    Both his sons were killed in action: Donald Stewart Scott died at sea after the Canso aircraft he was flying in over northern seas near the Faroe Islands was shot down by a U-boat and the 8-man crew spent over 20 hours in one 4-man inflatable raft before being rescued. Donald died of cold and exhaustion and his body was consigned to the sea by the surviving members. His name is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, England. Younger son Kenneth was a Leading Aircraftsman on a Dakota transport dropping supplies to the British Army in Burma. The aircraft was hit by enemy fire and before it crashed, at about a height of 100 ft., Kenneth was seen to jump and perished in the jungle. His final burial place is in Taukkyan War Cemetery, Myanmar (Burma).
