    Doogie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agriculture. He worked at the Experimental Station in Swift Current. While there he met Gwen Forsythe. During the war he was stationed in Winnipeg with the Air Force. They bought a farm at Elrose, Sask after the war.

    Gwen and Doogie met in Swift Current, SK. Doogie was working at the Experimental Farm Gwen worked for the newspaper. They married in Swift Current. During the War when Doogie was in the Air Force, Gwen stayed with Eva and Art Forsythe, her parents, in Regina. After the war they moved to Elrose SK, where they farmed for some years. Later Doogie took a position as Ag Rep for Delisle SK then in Arborg MB. They retired to Westbank BC which is near Kelowna BC

    Donald married Iona Gwendolyn "Gwen" Forsythe on 4 Jul 1941 in Swift Current, Swift Current Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada. Iona (daughter of Arthur Walton Forsythe and Eva Isabel Moore) was born on 24 Nov 1919 in Swift Current, Swift Current Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 17 Apr 2008; was buried in Westbank Cemetery, Westbank, Central Okanagan Regional District, British Columbia, Canada.
