    EMMETT, IDAHO - Edson (Ed) Sargent, 72, of Idaho, died May 17. He was born in Jeffersonville, Vermont and lived there until age 19 when he enlisted in the US Navy. He served from 1954 - 58. Besides Vermont, Ed lived in Alaska, Montana, Oregon, and recently moved to Idaho. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and traveling. In 1995, he married his wife Dorothy. Together they traveled between Oregon and Arizona. While in Arizona he learned to do beading and will always be remembered for the jewelry he made. Each one was a beautiful work of art. He belonged to the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a member of Gold Prospectors Assoc. of America.

    He was preceded in death by father, George and mother, Jennie. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; son, Scott of Billings, Montana; stepsons, David Mackey of Idaho and Donald Mackey of Salem; stepdaughters, Sue Mackey and Cris Ryan both of Salem and Lisa Taylor of Washington; sister, Beverly Weston of Vermont; 14 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

    A celebration of life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26 at 916 Margaret St. in Monmouth. Contributions can be made to Emmett Idaho Hospice.

    Edson married Dorothy Jean Kidd in 1995. Dorothy (daughter of Harold Donald "David" Kidd and Irene Huck) was born on 19 Jan 1943 in Potland, Multnomah County, Oregon, United States; died on 26 Feb 2016 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, United States; was buried in City View Cemetery, Salem, Marion County, Oregon, United states.
