?/b?CARLETON PLACE. Sept. 24. (Special) Mrs. Effie May Findlay. widow of David Findlay. prominent stove manufacturer of this district, died shortly after noon today at her home on High street.
Her passing removes one of the most generous contributors to the Red Cross Society and the Victorian Order of Nurses with whom she had been connected before suffering a stroke seven years ago.
Prior to being confined to her home. Mrs. Findlay was active in the various organizations connected with the Memorial Park United church and was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Women's Missionary Society.
She was a life member of th Red Cross Society and vice-president of the Victorian Order of Nurses Association.

A daughter of Mrs. Duncan Hamilton and the late Mr. Hamilton, she was born in Ramsay township and spent her early life there. Her husband predeceased her by six years.
A member of the Carleton Place Horticultural Society. Mrs. Findlay had one of the finest gardens in the district, which was a show-place of the community. She had previously been an active bowler and curler.
Surviving, besides her mother. Mrs. Duncan Hamilton, are three daughters. Miss Helen of Toronto: Mrs. D. B. McColl. Toronto, and Mrs. W. J. Phillips. Nanaimo. B.C.; four sons. David K.. D. Hamilton and George E., all of Carleton Place, and Pilot Officer H. John Findlay. with the R.C.A. F., Ottawa, and two sisters. Mrs. J. A. McEwen and Miss Ruby Hamilton, Carleton Place.
The funeral service will be conducted at her late home on Wednesday afternoon at two o'cloclc (Standard Time). Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.

- On Monday, February 14, 2011 at the North Bay Hospital, at the age of 71, he passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of Beverly for over 48 years. Loving father of Jennifer and her husband Brett Gibson and Bruce and his wife Alyson Findlay. Treasured grandpa Lake (or Poppa) of Rachel, Tori, Laura and Jeffrey. Survived by his sister Anne Jennifer Richardson. Dan will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by family, friends and by all who knew him. The family will receive friends and relatives at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown, 905-877-3631, on Sunday, February 20th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be celebrated in the chapel on Monday, February 21st, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown on Tuesday, February 22nd at 10:30 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Fund, Salvation Army or the Humane Society and would be appreciated.
