    Edward Malloch was the son of Edward C. Malloch and Ann Barland.
    He married Margaret Linsey Hill daughter of Andrew Hill and his wife Maria Wood.

    Edward Malloch settled in Richmond, Ontario around the time of the building of the Rideau Canal (1827-1831). He and his wife Margaret opened a general store which supplied the men working on the construction of the Rideau Canal.
    Edward bought at least 8,000 acres of land in the Richmond area along with 5,100 acres in Loyalist rights.
    In 1834, Edward purchased the land at 3551 McBean Street in Richmond (a house was not built on the land until after his death when the land was inherited by his wife and she had a house built for her mother).
    Edward and Margaret moved to Bytown where he served with the Carleton Militia. He became a Captain in 1837.
    From 1834 to 1841 Edward represented Carleton in the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada.
    From 1848 to 1854 he was a Conservative Member in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada.
    Edward Malloch was also the first sheriff for Carleton County.
    He died at his residence on Richmond Road in Ottawa, Ontario.
