Graveside services for ?b?William John Kidd?/b?, 90, a resident of Corning - Paskenta area for 27 years were held today in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Corning, California. He died Wednesday, November 20th in a convalescent hospital at Redding following a long illness.

William was born in Fort Ransom, North Dakota Territory on November 20, 1881 to parents William Thomas and Ellen (Madigan) Kidd. In 1901 he moved with his parents to Whiteson near McMinnville, Oregon where his parents started the Kidd Farm.

On October 16, 1912 he married Goldie Elizabeth Beacom at Whiteson, Oregon. She preceded him in death on May 8, 1971.

He was a carpenter in the construction industry in Amity, Klamath Falls, and Portland, Oregon. William later moved to the Corning -Paskenta area where he and his wife spent their retirement years.

William was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Tillamook, Oregon and a member of the Christian Science Church.

He is survived by his daughter Lila Ross (Gus) of Redding; a son Ellsworth "Lyle" Kidd (Norma) of Winslow, Arizona; brother Frank Kidd (Elizabeth) of Salem, Oregon; and two sisters, Clara Mae DeMonbrun (David) of Garden Grove and Bertha Alice Woodward (Oscar) of Long Beach; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery next to his wife Goldie.

NEWTON ? E. Lyle Kidd, 82, Newton, formerly of Clay Center, died Wednesday April 2, 2003.

Mr. Kidd was born June 18, 1920, at McMinnville, Ore. He was a retired assistant general manager for the Santa Fe Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Doug and Roger, both of Wichita; a daughter, Cindy Soehner of Idalia, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Phelps Funeral Home, 217 W. First, Miltonvale. Inurnment will be in Miltonvale Cemetery, with military rites by Fort Riley. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

Kidd, 56, of 1160 Fairview Ave., a former candidate for the Oregon Legislature and a well-known former Salem resident, died Friday when his motorcycle, crashed in the 3300 block of Silverton Road in Salem. An autopsy was scheduled today to . determine whether Kidd died as a result of injuries or of a heart attack. His wife, Margie, said he had a history of heart trouble. A native of McMinnville, Kidd lived in Portland, Silver-ton, Salemand a number of Oregon cities before coming here in 1973. For many years he was in law enforcement including service with the Multnomah County sheriff's department, assistant police chief at Harrisburg and chief of police at Florence, He also had been employed as a State of Oregon weigh-master for five years and for the last three years was employed by Salem Escort Service, a motorcycle unit that escorts funeral processions. He was en route to Salem from Silverton Cemetery at the time of the accident. An active member of the Democratic Party, Kidd- ran unsuccessfully for the Oregon Legislature in 1964, 1966 and 1972. His civic activities, included membership in St. Vincent dePaul Catholic, Church and Salem Breakfast , Optimist Club, of which he was president. He also was an active supporter and worker with the Flamingo Drum ' and Bugle Corps of Oregon, a Salem youth activity. Earl F. Kidd was born to parents Emmett and Margaret (Fosdick) Kidd on June 13th, 1931, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He had three siblings ? two sisters, Alice and Helen; and a brother Daniel. Daniel died at the age of three. Earl was six years old when his family moved from Klamath Falls to Portland. Earl resided in Portland for his entire life. He attended Benson High School.
Following High School, Earl entered the US Navy and served for four years during the Korean War. He was a first class petty officer. His time in the Navy afforded earl the opportunity to see the world. He visited many countries and peoples and he fondly recalled many wonderful encounters and stories during his time abroad. Following his time in the Navy, Earl served for four years in the National Guard.
Earl exchanged wedding vows with Lorene Chitwood on February 21st, 1953 in Stevenson, Washington. They had three children ? a daughter, Julie; and two sons, Craig and Philip. Earl's main occupation was as a sheet metal worker and welder. He served many companies and worked on countless welding projects during his career including a time with Thompson Sheet Metal on Swan Island.
In his spare time, Earl enjoyed going to garage sales and finding old and broken down lawnmowers. He would take them home, work on them and get them running good as new, and sell them. He "reborned" countless mowers over the years and took great satisfaction and pride in bringing new life to something that otherwise could have just been discarded. Earl also enjoyed antiques - he knew a great deal about old cars. He also liked to watch TV shows featuring antiques or cars. Earl also wrote poetry. Earl was keenly interested in others - one of his favorite things to do was to just talk to people and share stories and ideas. He will be remembered as a very personable fellow and someone who had the "gift of gab". He made friends easily and was a sociable and fun person to be around.
Earl is predeceased by his parents; his brother Daniel; and sisters Alice Mahoney and Helen Heem. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorene; sons Craig and Philip; daughter Julie; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A celebration of Earl's life will take place in Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 22nd at 1pm. Earl will be laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens garden of the Nativity.

Born and raised in Kansas, he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from Kansas State University, where he met his wife of 45 years, Diana. He was retired from SC Johnson & Sons but lived for his family ? his wife, children, grandchildren, and more. Though often described as kind, patient, generous, ornery and funny, he was perhaps best known for his uncomplaining and upbeat spirit. He was an avid sports fan from professional sports to his granddaughters' soccer games. He was most at home when he was spending time with his family at their Eureka Lake cabin, where he taught innumerable children and adults how to waterski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Lyle Kidd. He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughter, Laura (David) Mayans; son, Brett (Melody) Kidd; brother, Roger (Paula) Kidd; sister, Cindy (Gary) Soehner; granddaughters, Gabriella Mayans, Chloey and Faye Kidd; numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil will be at 4:00 P.M. with visitation from 4:30?6:00 P.M. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Burial immediately following at Ascension Cemetery. Died:
After a long history of health issues Dorothy died peacefully at her home with her family surrounding her on February 26, 2016.

She was born Dorothy Jean Kidd in Portland, Oregon on January 19, 1943 to David & Irene Kidd. Dorothy spent her childhood in Portland before moving to the valley where she met, fell in love with, and married the love of her life, LeRoy Mackey, who preceded her in death in 1994. She later married Ed Sargent, who also preceded her in death.

Dorothy spent most of her life being a housewife and mother, raising 5 children. She was a loving mother and wife and being a mother was her most cherished job. She loved her Chihuahua's Nana & Taco who, in her later years, were her companions. She loved watching old western movies & coloring with her grandkids & great-grandkids. Her favorite place to be was at the beach & she loved to travel!

Dorothy is survived by her children: daughters: Sue Mackey-Nichols (Marc), Cris Ryan (Don), Lisa Taylor (Chad); sons: David Mackey (Suzanne) & Donny Mackey (Rachel); 9 grandchildren: Zanda, Justin, Sean, Theoren, Skylar, Tyler, Jenny, Shaenna, and Alee; 7 great-grandchildren: Alissa, Aliyah, Jaxon, Mason, Justice, Jazmine, & Tyler; and numerous surrogate children and grandchildren including the children in her daughters child care. She is survived by a very large extended family including sisters: Donna Pippin (Harold), Darene Apon (Phil), Lyn Leighty (Rick), Patty Kidd (Jesse). Brothers: Bill Kidd and Bob Kidd (Patricia). She is also survived by lots of friends who loved and adored her.

Her children want to thank the nurses, CNA's, and Palliative Care Team at Salem Hospital who so carefully took care of our mother. We also want to thank Willamette Valley Hospice for their wonderful support during our very difficult time.

Dorothy donated her body to science & a celebration of life will be held at a later date, information will follow at that time. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent in honor of Dorothy to Willamette Valley Hospice.
