Berkley Kidd of 305 Second avenue, died yesterday in the Ottawa Civic Hospital In his 45th year. . ' ' . Mr. Kidd had been In failing health for some time but word of -his death will be received with regret by the many friends and. acquaintances who admired his nesting personality. A saxophone player of repute, Berkley Kidd was organizer and leader of one of the best known and popular dance orchestras in Ottawa during the past 20 years, playing for many seasons at Lakeside Gardens and the. Chateau . Lsurier. K won himself a wide circle of friends in aU walks of life and, despite his busy career, maintained an ardent interest in sports and other activities. Mr. Kidd was a valued employs of the audit department, of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for a number ot years prior to his death.

A son of the late William John Kidd, K.C former magistrate of Ottawa, and Mrs. Kidd. Berkley Kidd was born in Ottawa. He was educated at Lisgar Collegiate and St. Andrew's College la Toronto. He attended St. James United Church and was a former member of McLeod Streejt United Church. . He married the former Winnl-fred Matheson of Ottawa, who survivesAlso surviving are, one son. . Leading Seaman Berkley Kidd. of Comox, B.C.; one daugh- ter. Barbara Kidd. at home; and two brothers, Melbey Kidd. Alta-' dens, California; and Nelson Kidd, , with the Metropolitan Life In-; sura nee Company. Ottawa. The body is' resting at Hulse and Playfair. -Limited, 31S Mc-Leod street, where Rev. J. Richmond Craig will conduct the funeral sen-ice on Wednesday 'at 2 p Jn., Interment will take place in Beech wood cemetery.

Wife of the late Nelson Kidd, survived by her son David and his wife Pattie of Ottawa, and grandchildren Andrew of Groton, Connecticut and Heather of Austin, Texas. A long-time Ottawa resident, Ora was an avid sportswoman in tennis, golfing, curling and lawn bowling, and a lifetime member of the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. Berkley was a retired member of the Royal Canadian Navy and will be missed by all of his golfing friends at the Highlands Golf Club. At his request, there shall be no service.
