    Died:
    A resident of Carleton Place for many years, Alexander D. McDiarmid, husband of the former Emlline Alexander, died unexpectedly in Montreal. He was in his 61 years of age.

    Born in Carleton Place, he was the son of the late Duncan McDiarmld and Mary Lamont. Until six years ago, he had worked for many years in the C.P.R. shops in Carleton Place. He then was transferred to Montreal where he was employed in the Angus shops. Mr. McDiarmid was a member of the Mississippi Lodge of A.F. and A.M. and the Oddfellows Lodge, Carleton Place.

    Surviving besides his wife are four sisters, Mrs. Delia Dixon, Toronto, Mrs. Nellie Knox, Carleton Place, Mrs. Edna McDiarmid, Ottawa and Mrs. Elsie Moir, Rochester, N.Y.

    The funeral took place in Carleton Place on Saturday from the parlors of J.W. Patterson and Son, to St. James' Anglican church where the service was conducted by Rev. Canon T.H. Iveson, assisted by Rev. Leonard Baird of Smiths Falls. Burial was in St. James Anglican cemetery.
