    Serious Accident
We regret to have to report an unfortunate accident met with by David T. Snedden (son of Mr David Snedden, near Blakeney) on Friday last. He was riding home from the store of Mr Jas McDougall, Blakeney, with a parcel of nails. The horse was somewhat restless, and threw him. He was not hurt, and remounted, but when going down the hill at Mr Peter McDougall's the parcel dropped from his hand and frightened the horse, and he was again thrown. This time he fell heavily on his side against some boards and was very seriously injured. He was found there by Mrs McDougall, who quickly secured help, and he was conveyed to Mr McDougall's house, where he now lies. We trust the accident will not prove fatal, although we regret to say that but slight hopes of his recovery are entertained. He has been vomiting blood freely, and suffering acute pain. The unfortunate young man is well known in this town having been a clerk in Mr Hobblewhite's store for several years, and is popular with all who know him.
    LATER ?
The young life went out to its Maker to-day (Thursday) at 12:30 a.m. The sad news will cause a profound feeling of sorrow among those acquainted with the circumstances, and the mourning ones will have whatever solace there be for such a loss in the sympathy of the whole community. It is a severe blow to the parents. Deceased was their eldest son, was but 22 years of age, and was fully fitted for the active duties of the calling he had chosen. He had just completed a course in a commercial college. Although of a retiring disposition, his exemplary conduct and geniality made for him many warm friends. The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon.
