?/b?Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Wilmington Congregarional Church for Mrs. Ruth Mcouatt Davis, 80. native of Bennington, and resident of Wilmington, who died Oct 12 while traveling in Orlando, Fla.
Widow of Floyd Davis, she was born here Feb. 6, 1896 to Duncan anMary (Munro) McOuatt, attending Bennington schools and graduated from Pittsfield, Mass. High School.
She taught at several schools in the Wimington area and prior to herretirement in 1974 had worked for Smith College and the salvation Army in New York, N.Y.
She then returned to Wilmington and was known for her interest in crafts and for her sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Wilmington Congregational Church, the Ladies Aid and Mayflower chapter of OES. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 12, 1917, died in 1956.
She leaves four sons, a daughter, 21 grandchildren, several great grand-children and neices, nephews and cousins.
The Rev. John P. R. Morgan, minister of the Wilmington Congregational Church, officiated at the service and offered committal prayers at the graveside in Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmington Congregational Church, care of the Rev. Morgan.

After a full life, well lived, Katherine (Kay) D. Widness 92, of Sun City Center, FL, died peacefully on December 26, 2010.

The first child of Floyd P. and Ruth M. Davis, Kay was born in 1918 and grew up in Wilmington, Vermont, where her family operated a farm, restaurant, and grocery store. She was the first in her family to attend college, graduating from the University of Vermont in 1940 with a degree in home economics. She went on to receive a Masters Degree in human nutrition from Iowa State University. Professionally she performed nutrition research for the federal government and, after raising her two children, taught home economics and nutrition at the secondary school and junior college levels.

On Jan. 1, 1943, she married John E. Widness, and their loving and happy marriage lasted 58 years until John's death in 2001.

Throughout her life, Kay was an active community participant and leader. Outgoing, caring, and eager to help others, she volunteered in numerous civic and church organizations. She was a loving, loyal, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by a son, John (Jack) and his wife, Michaelanne, of Iowa City, IA; a daughter, Karen Birch and her husband, Tom, of Prescott, AZ; four grandchildren, Jamie DeBella, Benjamin, Jane and Laura Widness; a brother, Donald Davis, of Edmonds, WA; a sister-in-law, Marianne Davis, of Ipswich, MA; a cousin, Gladys King, of Pittsfield, MA: and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her brothers Robert, Paul, Norman and Phillip; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to CARE, The Salvation Army, and United Community Church in Sun City.

?b?Ann C. Davis Stone?/b? of River Ranch, Fla., and Wilmington, Vt., died Monday, December 26, 2011, at Lake Wales Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was born on August 22, 1946, daughter of the late Philip L. and Eleanor Cutting Davis of Wilmington She grew up in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, Class of 1964, and attended Radiology Technician School in Greenfield, Ma. She married Robert G. Stone on April 20, 1968 in Wilmington, Vt. and together they made a home in Whitingham, Vt., and raised two sons, Jeff and Duane. Mrs. Stone worked for many years as a Radiology Technician in Greenfield, Mass., and retired from Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. Mrs. Stone was active in the community, serving on the Whitingham School Board, Old Home Week Committee and various civic organizations and causes. She was very active in the lives of her family and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. After their retirement, she and her husband especially enjoyed travelling the country in their motor home and enjoyed trips to Alaska, the Southwest, the Grand Canyon, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and all throughout the Eastern Seaboard. For the past 8 years, Mrs. Stone and her husband made their home in River Ranch, Fla., and returned to Vermont in the summers. She was very active in the community, and enjoyed sharing her skills and creativity as a seamstress with her friends. She also loved gardening and photography. Mrs. Stone especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Daniel, Annika and Ava and made many projects with them, and loved taking pictures of their activities and vacations when they visited. Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband Robert, her sons, Jeff and his children Daniel and Annika of Chichester, N.H. His son Duane and his wife Terri and daughter Ava of Naples, Maine, her Uncle Donald Davis and his wife Helen of Edmonds, Wash., and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. A memorial service for her friends and family in Florida was held December 29, 2011 at the River Ranch Resort Chapel in River Ranch, Florida. A 2nd memorial service for her friends and family in the New England area as well as committal services will be held in the spring.
