    Mrs J.T. Kirkland
    The death occurred at the Rosamond Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning Dec 28th, of Susan M. McGregor wife of the late Dr Joseph T. Kirkland. She was in her 79th year and succumbed to a brief illness. Mrs Kirkland was born in Almonte, a daughter of the late James McGregor and his wife, the former Mary Dunlop. She was educated in the local public and high schools and after teaching for a few years in the Almonte Public School, she went to New York City where she trained as a nurse in Roosevelt Hospital. On her graduation, she followed this vocation for a time and then returned to Almonte. She was a member of the United Church. She married the late Dr. J.T. Kirkland, who predeceased her in 1938. Of the children surviving there are Mary (Mrs Arthur Cotton) of Windsor; Hal B. of Almonte; Jack of Chelmsford, Ont., and Maurice F. of Oshawa. A sister, Mrs James Bothwell, of Little Falls, N.Y. is the only one of a number of brothers and sisters surviving. Messrs Tom and Harry Warner of Ottawa are nephews. The funeral, which was private, was held from her late residence, William Street, to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev H.C. Wolfraim of the Almonte United Church officiated

    Susan married Dr. Joseph Tweeddale Kirkland in 1909. Joseph (son of Henry Kirkland and Sarah Louise Tweeddale) was born on 26 Jun 1867 in Sparta, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada; died on 7 Apr 1938 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 9 Apr 1938 in Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
